The Wizarding World is a hugely popular franchise, largely thanks to the Harry Potter films. Now, that world is growing even bigger with a new Harry Potter TV show, which has been in production for a while. Dominic McLaughlin, who will play Harry Potter, recently received a letter from Daniel Radcliffe, the original actor who portrayed the character.
People are really excited about the upcoming Harry Potter TV series, which will stream on HBO Max. The young actors playing the witches and wizards are facing a lot of expectations, but Dominic McLaughlin already looks the part. He recently told a story on the CBBC show Saturday Mash Up Live (as shared on Reddit) about receiving a message from Daniel Radcliffe himself, saying:
I received a letter directly from Daniel Radcliffe, which was completely unbelievable! I was traveling back to Glasgow by train when my dad handed me the letter. I read it, and at the very end, it was signed simply ‘Dan R.’
Isn’t that great? Daniel Radcliffe will always be known for his role as Harry Potter in the eight films, and McLaughlin probably feels a lot of pressure to live up to that legacy. So it’s really heartwarming that Radcliffe took the time to offer his support. I’m really excited to see if and when these two actors finally get to meet in person.

After Dominic McLaughlin received a letter from Daniel Radcliffe – famous for playing Harry Potter – he shared what happened next during the same interview. He explained how he struggled to remain calm while traveling on the train, saying:
I was going mad and then I had to keep it cool. I was on the train.
You’re right. Since public transport involves being around other people, the actor from the Harry Potter TV series didn’t want to make a scene when he read the letter from Radcliffe. It must have been a really amazing surprise, though!
Many fans are eager to see if the upcoming Harry Potter series will give proper attention to all the characters, including those who were cut from the books, like Peeves, and those who didn’t get enough screen time, such as Ginny Weasley. It’s still uncertain how the show will handle this, but Dominic McLaughlin, who played a role at Hogwarts, shared only positive experiences about his time on set.

The original actors from Harry Potter became very close after spending ten years filming the movies together. It seems like the new, younger cast of the upcoming TV series is also forming a strong connection. Now, fans are eagerly awaiting the show’s release!
It looks like the new Harry Potter TV series won’t be released until 2027. It’s not planned for the 2026 television season, so fans will need to wait for HBO to share some first glimpses of the show’s production.
