It sounds like at least one character from Thanksgiving will return for the sequel

As a die-hard horror movie enthusiast who has survived countless sleepless nights thanks to the genre, I couldn’t be more excited about the upcoming sequel to Eli Roth’s 2023 slasher hit, “Thanksgiving.” Given my extensive experience of hiding behind the couch during terrifying scenes, I can confidently say that this movie is sure to become a new holiday tradition for me.

The follow-up to Eli Roth’s 2023 slasher film, “Thanksgiving,” is now being developed and is expected to hit theaters in 2025. Since the conclusion of the original movie, we have a general sense of which characters may reappear, but some actors have hinted at returning for this sequel, and Roth has suggested that Addison Rae could potentially join them. Caution: Spoilers ahead for the ending of “Thanksgiving” film.

As it’s just been a year since this movie made its debut in cinemas, plenty are likely to rewatch it as they start a new holiday custom. It’s not every year that we find a Thanksgiving horror movie, and this one really embraces its concept.

By the closing scenes of the initial film, Gabby, portrayed by Rae, was among the few who managed to endure John Carver’s tyrannical rule over the town of Plymouth, Massachusetts. She survived alongside several companions, including Jessica (played by Nell Verlaque).

In August, during the release of his new film titled “Borderlands“, Roth mentioned to a Variety journalist that he adores Rae and their decision to keep her character alive was deliberate, suggesting a strong possibility of her reappearance in the 2025 sequel.

“It doesn’t feel like a Thanksgiving movie without Addison Rae,” Roth concudes.

The piece makes it clear that while Roth’s statements suggest a deal for Rae’s return hasn’t been finalized, the fact that the director wants her back is promising. Originating from TikTok fame, Rae has expanded her popularity with her shift towards pop music and acting. Notably, she starred in ‘Thanksgiving’, and she’ll next be seen in the 2025 film “Animal Friends”, sharing the screen with Ryan Reynolds, Jason Momoa, Vince Vaughn, and Aubrey Plaza.

Apart from Rae, actress Nell Verlaque has also shared insights about the upcoming sequel. Earlier, she revealed to Total Film that she thinks the second film is a continuation of the first and her character Jessica will reappear. Former Suits star Rick Hoffman, who played Jessica’s father Thomas Wright, likewise hinted at his possible return in the same outlet.

According to what I’ve been informed, I am a part of it – though I won’t spoil anything, let me tell you that, from what I’ve been told by the director, it promises to be quite intriguing indeed. (Hoffman shared)

Verlaque explains that Roth plans to delve deeper into the characters and explore how the distressing incidents from the initial movie have shaped them in future developments.
