Ever since Jackie ‘O’ Henderson unexpectedly left her $100 million job at KIIS FM, people in the entertainment industry have been closely examining her relationship with her longtime colleague, Kyle Sandilands.

There’s been a lot of guessing about why she quit after their argument on February 20th, especially since many people thought it wasn’t even a very heated disagreement compared to their past on-air fights.

A recently rediscovered interview with Kyle Sandilands, 54, and Today host Karl Stefanovic might show the first signs of trouble that were developing in Sandilands’ friendship with Guy Sebastian, 51, over the past few years.

Oh my gosh, you wouldn’t BELIEVE it! I was listening to Karl Stefanovic’s new podcast back in early February, and Sandilands was a guest. Even THEN, it was so obvious things weren’t great between him and Henderson. Like, you could just feel them drifting apart, weeks before that whole on-air fight even happened! I knew something was up, honestly. It was heartbreaking to witness, even just through my headphones!

The radio host started the interview by saying he ‘respects’ Henderson’s opinions, even though he doesn’t always agree with them. However, he quickly contradicted himself by calling her interest in tarot and astrology ‘nonsense’ and ‘weird’.

He made things worse by describing his co-star and friend as someone who constantly changes her personality. He claimed she’s gone through as many as 60 different personalities over the past twenty years they’ve worked together.

He chuckled, “I love her, but she’s a bit wild! It feels like her personality changes completely every six weeks. You get what I mean?”

The tension between them became clear when Stefanovic, age 51, started asking Sandilands questions that Henderson had actually prepared for him.

Sandilands seemed increasingly annoyed as she spoke, while Henderson appeared to suggest her coworker consider her own behavior and learn from the situation.

Henderson’s first question for Sandilands asked whether he truly didn’t think therapy was helpful, or if he was simply afraid of self-discovery that might come from talking to a therapist.

As expected, Sandilands brushed off the question, claiming Henderson ‘tries to learn everything, but a lot of it is nonsense’.

He also said he didn’t want to analyze his own feelings or tell personal, difficult stories to someone he didn’t know.

Stefanovic, speaking for Henderson, wondered how many people in your life you believe would honestly tell you what they think, versus those who just tell you what you want to hear, or are scared to disagree with you.

Sandilands was upset by the question, explaining that he depends on people he trusts – like his wife, Tegan Kynaston, and his manager, Bruno Bouchet – to give him honest feedback. He then countered by suggesting that Henderson only surrounds himself with people who always agree with him.

Jackie’s misunderstanding the situation. She believes I only listen to people who agree with me, but that’s not true at all, he explained.

Looking at the situation objectively, it’s clear Jackie is the one surrounded by people who just try to please her.

In a significant step, Henderson sent a letter to Sandilands asking, ‘Is there anyone you need to apologize to, but know you likely never will?’

Sandilands expressed frustration, questioning why Henderson was so focused on his feelings. He stated simply that people generally either like him or they don’t.

He also said, ‘If I sprayed you, there was a reason,’ which seemed to hint at the argument he’d soon have with Henderson on live television.

The question seemed to be the turning point. Henderson, with Stefanovic, asked Sandilands to consider what his life would be like if he didn’t have his radio show or his wealth.

‘If you stripped away the fame, the money, the show, who are you? Do you even know?’ she asked.

Sandilands sharply rejected Henderson’s questions and his attempts to encourage self-reflection, bluntly calling him a ‘loon’.

It’s unclear if the interview was the direct cause of Henderson’s departure from the radio show she created with Sandilands, but it definitely highlighted existing problems in their working relationship.

Both Henderson and Sandilands are staying home and avoiding the media attention. Sandilands is reportedly consulting with lawyers to protect his job contract.

According to The Australian, he is planning to sue ARN if they end his $100 million contract after his KIIS FM show with Henderson was cancelled.

Sandilands is reportedly trying to receive the remaining money from a ten-year contract he signed in 2023, which was worth $200 million in total. He still had eight years left on the contract, with a value of $88 million remaining.

The radio host faced accusations of behaving badly after a heated argument with his colleague, Henderson, about her belief in astrology. The disagreement led to Henderson unexpectedly resigning from the show.

Apparently, Sandilands was shocked by the misconduct claim, as he was allowed to say whatever he wanted on air. The show had two dedicated censors whose job was to prevent any inappropriate content from being broadcast.

As a longtime fan, I’m hearing that the radio personality is fighting back against the network’s decision to cancel his contract. Apparently, he’s claiming they previously agreed to take full responsibility for anything he said on the air, and now they’re going back on their word. It just doesn’t seem right!

According to a source, Kyle Sandilands would only consider leaving his popular breakfast show if he receives the remaining amount of his $100 million contract – the portion he hasn’t already been paid.
