Is the Pokémon GO Pass Deluxe: Ancients Recovered worth it?

A very expensive decision, but is it worth purchasing?

2021’s Pokémon GO Fest introduces a unique GO Pass and GO Pass Deluxe, marking the first time these passes have been offered for this major event. Previously introduced during the GO Tour earlier this year, trainers have grown familiar with the Battle Pass-style mechanics in the game.

This year, the GO Fest Pokémon GO Pass brings together the regular tickets that we’d typically have prior to the event. The Egg and Raid themed tickets are no longer available; instead, they have been consolidated into the pass.

The exciting update? The standard GO Pass, which encompasses encounters, experience points, stardust, and useful resources, is now free for all Trainers globally. Yet, there exists a Premium version, but it comes at a considerable cost.

Prices range from $19.99 all the way to $29.99 in the Pokémon GO Web Store.

Is it advisable to use your saved funds for the Pokémon GO Pass Deluxe at the GO Fest Global event? Here’s some information that might help you decide.

Should you buy the Pokémon GO Pass Deluxe?

Although spending $20 on the GO Pass Deluxe might seem expensive initially, it’s worth remembering that this pass essentially consolidates several tickets we typically purchase during this season. Normally, those tickets would cost around $5 each. Therefore, you’re actually paying roughly half as much for the Deluxe edition compared to buying them separately.

Deluxe GO Pass bonuses

Those bonuses are spread out across the first 70 levels. Here are all the bonuses:

At purchase

  • 1/2 Egg Hatch Distance when Eggs are placed in an Incubator between the start of the GO Pass: Ancients Recovered period and the end of Pokémon GO Fest 2025: Global.

Rank 10

  • One additional Raid Pass per day from spinning Gym Photo Discs.*

Rank 20

  • 2× Candy from hatching Eggs.

Rank 30

  • One additional Candy XL awarded to Trainers level 31 and up for completing 5-star and higher Raid Battles.

Rank 40

  • 2× Stardust from hatching Eggs.

Rank 50

  • Three additional Candy awarded for completing 5-star and higher Raid Battles.

Rank 60

  • 2× XP from hatching Eggs.

Rank 70

  • 5,000 additional XP from completing Raid Battles.

Other Deluxe GO Pass Rewards

If we consider that roughly half of your expenditure goes towards these items, what else do you receive with the remainder of your spending budget? Here’s a list of possibilities:

  • 70,000 Stardust (until Level 100)
  • Candy for several Pokémon
  • Poké Balls, Great Balls, Ultra Balls
  • Lucky Eggs
  • Star Pieces
  • Lure Modules
  • Incense
  • XP
  • 1 Gold Bottle Cap

From my perspective as a devoted fan, the significance of these elements can greatly differ among Trainers. While some Trainers may be intensely focused on acquiring XP due to their progression status, others might already be at Level 50 and prioritize other aspects less. Some may have an abundance of candy for powerful Pokémon like Zacian, while others might be desperately seeking it. The experience can indeed vary greatly among us.

The Gold Bottle Cap makes the Pokémon GO Pass Deluxe worth it

The primary allure of the Deluxe edition lies in the Level 100 Reward. This unique feature grants you the game’s inaugural Gold Bottle Cap, empowering you to elevate a solitary non-shadow Pokémon’s stats to their peak from any starting point.

This tool is incredibly potent and could significantly enhance your Pokémon GO collection in a meaningful way. It offers a wide range of applications. Imagine, if you’ve longed for a perfect Rayquaza, consider how many Raid battles you might need to participate in to get it. The $20 cost of the Deluxe Pokémon GO Pass could be less daunting in this scenario.

Overall conclusions

Personally speaking, this product offers great value for the money spent, especially considering the valuable bonuses, rewards, and Gold Bottle Caps it provides. These features indeed make the high price tag more justifiable over time. However, I must admit that reaching 100 levels might take a considerable amount of time due to being capped at 10 levels per weekday, with unlimited progress during the Global GO Fest weekend.

There’s no need to focus on the pricier packages unless you’re keen on getting ahead in the initial 10 stages or require some specific additional features they offer.

If you’re not intending to play extensively this week and weekend, The Pass might not offer good value for you because you likely won’t finish it. However, if you do plan to play a lot, we advise purchasing it and diving into your gaming sessions starting from this week. An excellent method to increase your level is by hatching the unique GO Fest Eggs that are currently active.
