Is The New Teacher a Threat? Fans Fear For Enid in Wednesday Season 2

Warning: this article contains spoilers for Wednesday season 1’s ending.

Before the second season of “Wednesday” premieres, Netflix has started sharing some details about it. One new character in the upcoming season piques our interest. The creators are giving a fresh spin to the well-loved “Addams Family” series. In the first season of “Wednesday”, we saw Wednesday Addams attend Nevermore Academy, a school for misfits, following her expulsion from another school. As the story unfolds, Wednesday finds herself increasingly entangled in a mystery involving multiple murders that can be traced back through generations.

As Wednesday delves into the enigmatic crimes in Nevermore, she simultaneously forms intimate bonds with individuals such as Enid and even starts dating, only to discover that her suitor, Tyler, is a Hyde in the final episode of season 1. In the closing moments of the first season, Wednesday manages to overcome Joseph Crackstone, but Nevermore shuts down for the term, leaving the outcomes of certain characters hanging in the balance. With season 2 of Wednesday already in full swing, Netflix has revealed new characters and hinted at a possible reappearance of a season 1 antagonist.

Isadora’s Interest In Enid Sounds Eerily Reminiscent Of Wednesday & Ms. Thornhill’s Season 1 Dynamic

The Supposed Mentor Might Have Something Darker In Mind

Initially, it appeared that Tyler’s Hyde was the main issue troubling Nevermore and Jericho, Vermont. However, the season 1 finale unveiled that Ms. Thornhill, Wednesday’s botany teacher, was not who she seemed. Her true identity was Laurel Gates, a distant relative of Joseph Crackstone, who aimed to eliminate outcasts from the town. Laurel Gates manipulated the Hyde and eventually managed to resurrect Crackstone, but Wednesday prevailed at the last second.

In the second season of Wednesday, Netflix is set to introduce fresh characters, among them Isadora Capri, who will be portrayed by Billie Piper from Doctor Who. Isadora, taking over from Ms. Thornhill played by Christina Ricci, assumes the role as the head of music at the academy and shows a keen interest in Wednesday’s musical talents, acting as a mentor to fellow werewolf Enid Sinclair. This new character shares an unusual resemblance with Wednesday and her season 1 teacher, Ms. Thornhill.

It’s plausible that Isadora’s intentions are genuine, but given the secretive nature of the world depicted in Wednesday, her actions raise suspicion. After all, we know from Laurel Gates that teachers being overly interested in students can lead to trouble. Furthermore, Enid appears to be more trusting and open than Wednesday, which could make her a potential target for an enemy seeking access to information about the Addams Family.

Wednesday Season 2’s Trailer Has Already Hinted At A Dark Twist For Enid

Enid’s Behavior Appears Changed After Her Time Away From Nevermore

In the first season of Wednesday, Enid stands out as a beloved character, making it understandable why fans are drawn to her. Yet, the trailer for season 2 portrays some peculiar changes in Enid’s demeanor and actions that catch the eye. During the trailer, we witness the reunion of the teens at Nevermore, but Enid appears noticeably altered from her previous self. Throughout the trailer, Wednesday interacts with eerie dolls, and eventually hands one with “real human hair” to Enid, who accepts it hesitantly.

Though Enid typically appears more sociable and amicable among the pair of roommates, it’s hard to imagine her taking a liking to a terrifying doll, even if it’s a present from a friend. At the close of the trailer, she seems to be confined behind some sort of enclosure, sparking debate about whether Enid might turn into an antagonist in season 2. It’s doubtful that Enid would intentionally turn against Wednesday, but there’s a chance her new mentor could manipulate her towards darker paths.

Isadora’s unexpected arrival at Nevermore and her attention towards Enid may lead to complications for both Enid and Wednesday. Given that Piper is missing from the latest trailer, while other new characters are present, it suggests that Isadora might be a character shrouded in mystery, which the series will gradually reveal over time. Meanwhile, the second season of Wednesday‘s trailer addresses some key questions about the Addams Family and Tyler’s whereabouts, but it also leaves other intriguing questions unanswered, which viewers will need to patiently wait for answers.
