Is The Central Park Community in The Walking Dead Doomed? Find Out Now!
Caution: This article may reveal SPOILERS for The Walking Dead: Dead City season 2, episode 4 titled “Feisty Friendly”. As the second season of The Walking Dead: Dead City unfolds, we’ve seen a variety of new settlements emerge, adding tension to the series. However, I have a hunch that one of these fresh groups might be in grave peril. The initial season hinted at Manhattan having distinct societies, with the Dama and Croat’s Burazi being the most influential. But season 2 has been expanding on this, introducing the New Babylon Federation as part of The Walking Dead universe, while also focusing on Brugel and Christos’ factions, and giving some attention to the Bricks.
Although all these communities could encounter difficulties towards the end of season 2 or even in a potential third season, it is the newest community that I am most concerned about. Unlike the Dama and Bruegel’s settlements, which appear heavily fortified with numerous soldiers, the Central Park group from The Walking Dead is far more vulnerable due to their unique lifestyle. They view death as an opportunity for a fresh start rather than something to be feared, and since New Babylon is temporarily residing within the community, I’m not optimistic that this faction will last long.
I Have A Bad Feeling About The Walking Dead’s Central Park Group
Narvaez Looks Certain To Turn On The Group While Maggie & Perlie Are Away
Although the residents of Central Park in Dead City are extraordinarily welcoming and kind, I have an uneasy suspicion that they could be overtaken by New Babylon. While Perlie holds the highest rank among those from New Babylon who arrived in Manhattan, his departure with Maggie and Hershel left Major Narvaez in control, who is notably less compassionate. She had hinted at the possibility of utilizing force to seize control of the Central Park group – a tactic that New Babylon has employed before to incorporate other communities into the Federation – but Perlie, as the commanding officer, vetoed the idea.
With Perlie’s departure from Narvaez leaving it unattended, events might take a severe turn for the worse. Since Roksana, leader of the Central Park group, has rejected all offers to join the Federation, she may not have a say in the matter now that Perlie is no longer present. It seems probable that Narvaez will likely either imprison or eliminate those who oppose their cause, which could result in the total destruction of the settlement, or leave only a small number of survivors behind. The inhabitants have demonstrated themselves to be both peaceful and determined, and they would rather give up their lives than surrender their rights to New Babylon.
Consequently, I find it challenging to imagine a scenario where Narvaez allows Roksana and her followers to coexist peacefully. This suggests that apart from facing challenges posed by Hershel and the Dama’s “Dead City” alliance, Perlie and Maggie might encounter an ambitious Narvaez, exacerbating their struggles in Manhattan.
Losing The Walking Dead’s Fascinating Central Park Group Would Be A Shame
The Group Is One Of Manhattan’s Only Peaceful Settlements In The Walking Dead
In the second season of “Dead City,” although the Central Park group may not be central to the main plot, losing them would still be significant. Among the latest factions introduced in the series, they are the only ones who genuinely appear to be kind and strive for peace, making their potential demise all the more heartbreaking. With so many dangers lurking, it seems crucial that Maggie, Hershel, Ginny, and Perlie have allies. However, the longevity of this community could be limited to just a few episodes. Furthermore, the Central Park group’s unconventional lifestyle mirrors the junkyard settlement from “The Walking Dead,” making them an ideal replacement for that unique community.

Characters such as Roksana seem to believe they have more to contribute, and the challenging environment makes it a refuge that other groups likely won’t attempt to reach. If Narvaez chooses to demolish the community in Dead City during season 2’s forthcoming episodes, it would be a significant setback not only for the main characters but also for viewers. Although there is a possibility Maggie, Perlie, and Hershel could return in time to thwart New Babylon, I am convinced that the Central Park community is living on borrowed time and may not endure much longer.
