Is 'Ted Lasso' getting a fourth season after all?

As a film enthusiast who’s spent countless hours streaming shows and movies, I can’t help but feel like the universe is aligning when it comes to “Ted Lasso.” The news of a potential fourth season has me jumping for joy, much like Roy Kent might after scoring a goal!

Rejoice, AFC Richmond fans! It looks like “Ted Lasso” might be getting a fourth season after all.

According to various media sources, Warner Bros. Television is working on extending the successful Apple TV+ series beyond its Season 3 conclusion, as the show’s ending has left its future in question.

As reported first by Deadline, Warner Bros. Television has chosen to exercise the options for three principal cast members who are part of the U.K. performers union Equity: Hannah Waddingham (playing Rebecca Walton), Jeremy Swift (as Leslie Higgins), and Brett Goldstein (in the role of Roy Kent).

On Sunday, neither the representatives from Warner Bros. Television nor those from Apple TV+ promptly provided comments when asked. Similarly, some cast members did not respond either.

It seems that the upcoming steps for the studio involve reaching out to actors like Juno Temple (Keeley Jones), Brendan Hunt (Coach Beard), and Jason Sudeikis (Ted Lasso) who are represented by the U.S. performers union, SAG-AFTRA.

It’s possible that other main cast members like Phil Dunster (as Jamie Tartt) could be absent because of scheduling issues, according to Deadline.

According to Deadline, a team of writers is currently being put together for Season 4, with plans for filming to potentially start as early as 2025.

As a dedicated cinephile, let me share my take on “Ted Lasso.” In this series, I find myself rooting for Jason Sudeikis’ character, an amusingly naive and warm-hearted American football coach. He embarks on an unexpected journey across the pond to manage a professional soccer team in England – a team about which he knows virtually nothing!

Ever since its debut in August 2020, this critically acclaimed sports comedy has bagged a total of 13 Emmy Awards. Interestingly, its third season, which was speculated to be its last, wrapped up in May of the previous year.

In June 2023, “Ted Lasso” actor, producer, and co-creator Hunt shared with The Times that Apple CEO Tim Cook dropped by the set of the series and expressed, “I’m grateful for all your efforts, I truly hope there’s a Season 4.”

“Everything’s on the table now, including nothing,” Hunt said at the time.

“We’ve been putting in a lot of effort on this task for quite some time now. So, we plan to step away for a short while to rest, after which we’ll gather again to discuss whether we should embark on another project.”
