Is Sheeny the Ultimate Shopaholic? 6,568 Clothes and 437 Shoes Exposed!
Sort Your Life Out (BBC)
The term “SABLE” stands for “Stuff Accumulated Beyond Lifetime Exceeding Age.” Essentially, it means you have amassed more possessions than your lifetime requires.
For quite some time, my bookcases have been overflowing with books that I haven’t discarded, whether they are still unread or ones that I’ve already read and found pleasure in.
There are so many boxes of second-hand paperbacks in the loft, our ceiling is cracking.
Although I don’t have as much money or room these days, I still find myself purchasing more books – most often in electronic format now.
If I reach the age of 110, read a book each week without buying any additional ones, approximately half of my current library would be exhausted.
Such behavior is quite absurd, and like many irrational actions, it seems to stem from some profound psychological factors. I suspect that the origins of my predicament can be traced back to my childhood, when my weekly allowance was just a shilling, while a new Biggles adventure cost three shillings and sixpence – quite an extravagant expense for a young lad like me.
You don’t need to remember pre-decimal currency to appreciate the difficulty this posed.
Stacey Solomon confronted an extreme case of compulsive shopping on Sort Your Life Out.

As I, Sheeny, a mother to three lovely children residing in Coventry, found myself on the brink of my 40th birthday, I was confronted by an abundant collection of garments that could easily stock a megastore. Many of these pieces remained untouched, their labels still intact.
Oh boy, you should have seen my room! My closet was bursting at the seams, and then there were those 28 suitcases overflowing with more clothing. I couldn’t help but pile them up on every available surface – the chairs, beds, sofas – they became heaps everywhere! It was a sight to behold, my obsession with fashion truly taking over!
There were 437 pairs of shoes. Even Imelda Marcos might think that was excessive.
In the kitchen, the countertops were overflowing with over a thousand utensils, leaving one puzzled as to how Sheeny could even manage to cook anything there.
The ingenious aspect of this program lies in completely stripping the house of all its contents, ranging from the beds down to the smallest teaspoons. When these items are arranged on the floor of a warehouse, the sheer extent of the accumulation becomes evident to the eye.
Stacey enlisted the aid of her spouse, Joe Swash, and their teenage son, Zachary, for the task of unpacking the new home. However, it seems like a larger group would have been needed to accomplish this task effectively.
Instead of jumping right to the grand unveiling, I’d prefer a glimpse into the behind-the-scenes operations, showcasing the convoys of moving trucks that play a crucial role in this process, rather than just the moment when the warehouse doors rise and the family encounters their belongings neatly arranged, stretching out as far as the eye can see.
Primarily, I’m interested in understanding the detailed costs associated with amassing such a collection. What is the total expense involved in building up a stockpile of this magnitude?
Sheeny owned 6,568 items of clothing, the most ever seen in five series of the show.
Estimate it to be roughly around 20 pounds per piece of clothing. This amounts to approximately £130,000 spent on clothes… considering Sheeny’s penchant for fashionable attire, the total might even be higher.
The shock of those sums might help shopaholics to rein back.
I’ve realized that the expense of those numerous, untouched book boxes must have been quite significant… And to be clear, I have no intention of purchasing another one in the future, absolutely none at all.
