A significant disruption affecting Google Cloud services has led Pokémon GO players to encounter difficulties when trying to log in. Some users can play the game to a certain extent, while others find that Pokémon GO is entirely unavailable. The troubles extend beyond just this game, as it appears that almost all Google services are experiencing problems.

As a gamer, I’ve been running into some troubles with my friends list within the game. It seems like folks who log in using Google or Facebook are encountering the most difficulties when it comes to even getting the app up and running.

Pokémon GO down due to Google outage

Remarkably, the current Google Cloud disruption is sweeping across various regions, affecting them all to varying degrees. This is among the most severe outages we’ve experienced recently, with issues extending far beyond just Pokémon GO.

Niantic have issued a brief statement about the incident:

We’d like to inform you about an ongoing issue with Google Cloud Platform that might result in sluggish loading speeds or difficulties logging into Pokémon GO, Pikmin Bloom, Monster Hunter NOW, and their respective online stores. This problem may occur due to the outage on the Google Cloud platform.

A variety of significant platforms such as Snapchat, Spotify, Discord, and others are all experiencing effects due to this outage as well.

Outage comes on eve of Pokémon GO Fest Paris

It’s unfortunate that the timing isn’t ideal for Pokémon GO trainers traveling to Paris for GO Fest, as the main event commences tomorrow, and players can already engage in city-wide gameplay today.

The power outage occurred following the daily conclusion of official gameplay. Trainee apprehension arises concerning potential effects on the upcoming event, but thus far, there’s no sign it will affect it. The event is set to begin in Paris in approximately 12 hours.
