The first installment has left an indelible mark on me, and I eagerly await to see how its sequel unfolds on the silver screen.

As “It Ends With Us” maintains its success in movie theaters, it’s easy to understand why there’s talk about adapting Colleen Hoover’s 2022 sequel book, “It Starts With Us,” into a film too.

Nonetheless, an official announcement about the sequel is still pending, due to potential issues arising from reported conflicts among actor-producer Blake Lively and actor-director Justin Baldoni behind the scenes.

In the continuation of the story, titled “It Starts With Us“, we find Lily and Atlas reviving their connection after Lily’s divorce from Ryle. Yet, Ryle continues to play a role in her life due to their shared custody of their daughter Emerson. This arrangement leads to conflicts and confrontations between the three of them.

2019 saw Justin Baldoni’s production company, Wayfarer Studios, acquire the rights to the novel “It Ends With Us”. However, since the sequel was published three years later, it’s uncertain whether they also own the rights for this follow-up book.

As a passionate admirer, let me share some exciting news! In an exclusive chat with Variety, Baldoni hinted at the possibility of transforming the book into a production, mentioning they hold the right to do so. However, my mind is firmly rooted in the present, I’m yet to delve into future plans that far ahead. I’m focusing on staying grounded and enjoying each moment as it comes.

If a sequel happens, however, Baldoni won’t be the one directing it. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight at the film’s premiere, he declined the offer to return as director. “I believe there are more suitable individuals for the job,” Baldoni stated.

“I think Blake Lively’s ready to direct. That’s what I think,” he added.

Instead of appearing as a positive affirmation of Lively’s filmmaking abilities, Baldoni’s comments were soon seen as stemming from an alleged disagreement between them during filming.

Online fans swiftly observed that Lively and Baldoni didn’t appear together during the film promotion events, instead handling their interviews independently. At the movie’s premiere, Baldoni arrived with his spouse and companions, while Lively shared the limelight with her fellow cast members.

Since the debut of the film on August 9, numerous whispers about their dispute have circulated, ranging from Lively supposedly editing her own version of the movie to allegations of being body-shamed by Baldoni, who is said to have enlisted a PR crisis manager. However, it’s essential to clarify that neither star has publicly confirmed any ongoing feud between them. Baldoni did mention “friction” on set, but he seemed to be referring to the challenges of working in a collaborative environment rather than personal disputes.
