Is Isobel Leaving FBI? Shocking Cliffhanger and What It Means for Her Future
Actor Jeremy Sisto, who portrays Jubal Valentine on the show, discussed the possible consequences of Isobel Castille’s potential departure after the shocking cliffhanger at the end of Season 7. Alana De La Garza’s character, Special Agent in Charge Isobel Castille, joined the cast of FBI during Season 2 and has been a powerful presence ever since she became part of the New York Field Office. The seventeenth episode of Season 7 of FBI delved deeper into Isobel’s personal life by finally unveiling the identity of her secret husband, Phillip (played by Tom Cavanagh from the Arrowverse).
In Season 7, Isobel faced a mix of highs and lows. She encountered a dangerous terrorist organization that menaced her existence, yet she also marked her 20-year anniversary with the bureau, causing her to contemplate retiring.
Is Isobel Leaving FBI? Alana De La Garza Responds
In the final episode of Season 7, the situation took a drastic turn for Isobel when a dangerous terrorist organization called The Forefront managed to penetrate the FBI headquarters, placing everyone within it in peril.
As a dedicated fan, I find myself stepping forward to confront Assistant Director Reynolds (Ben Shenkman), suspecting him of being the mole. However, it turns out that the true betrayer is none other than Reynolds’ superior, Keane, played by guest star Campbell Scott. What a twist!
In the aftermath, pandemonium breaks out and Isobel gets hurt at HQ. Keane mistakenly declares Isobel dead on duty, causing the Joint Operations Center (JOC) to be shut down. Later, it’s discovered that she’s actually alive, and she secretly reunites with her team at an undisclosed location off the grid.
Afterward, Isobel devises a strategy to bring down Keane under the pretense of wanting to join Forefront. However, unbeknownst to him, she covertly records their conversation during their meeting. This evidence ultimately leads to his apprehension at the JOC headquarters.
As the final moments unfolded, I joined my fellow team members in the joyous celebration of our victory. However, the festivities were abruptly halted as Isobel suddenly collapsed during her speech. In a moment, Maggie (Missy Peregrine) rushed over to check on her, discovering that she had no heartbeat.
In a chat with TV Insider, actors Jeremy Sisto and Alana De La Garza discussed the mysterious outcome of Isobel following the thrilling season finale’s suspenseful cliffhanger.
De La Garza hinted cryptically about Isobel’s future, suggesting that fans should “stay tuned to find out”.
You really need to watch it to fully appreciate it. It’s a genuine cliffhanger, truly engaging and enjoyable, unlike any game I’ve ever played undeniably.
Sisto stated that the departure of Isobel would be a significant setback not only for the office but also for the FBI as a whole, expressing regret that they might disrupt something functioning exceptionally well.
Losing Jubal from our office and the show would deal a significant setback to everyone involved, as well as the program itself. We’re all keeping our fingers crossed that this isn’t true. One reason our show is successful is because each character plays a crucial role in this family dynamic, so it would be unfortunate indeed if we were to disrupt something that’s functioning so smoothly.
Ever since she became part of the team, Isobel has been a formidable pillar for the FBI. Her hypothetical demise is certain to create ripples, not only among her fellow agents but also amongst their broader adversaries.
Since the FBI has been renewed for Seasons 8 and 9, viewers won’t have to wait long to discover the fate of Isobel when the series comes back on CBS during the 2025-2026 television season.
Why Isobel May Not Exit FBI Yet (There’s a Good Reason)
In the climax, Isobel’s devotion to the bureau is evident as she decides to operate covertly alongside her team to unmask the FBI mole. This moment underscores her significance to the group, as they put their trust in her even during an unauthorized and perilous mission.
Regarding speculations about her departure from the FBI as Isobel, Alana De La Garza clarified in a past interview that there are still loose ends with the Grippo Crime Family for her character, implying that she has not yet left the bureau and it is no longer a current concern.
The ending of FBI Season 7 finale, which leaves Isobel’s survival uncertain, might intentionally set up more development for her character in upcoming seasons. If she lives, she may ponder retirement, but there would remain an unresolved sense that she didn’t complete her mission to bring down the Grippo Crime Family.
Overall, it’s likely that Isobel will have a fitting farewell in the future, and a medical issue won’t defeat such an extraordinary individual as her.
