Amanda Seyfried sparked some discussion at the Golden Globes on Sunday. Viewers noticed she appeared uninterested when the Best Actress awards were announced, and she didn’t win either of the categories she was nominated in.
The 40-year-old actress looked upset when Rose Byrne, known for her role in ‘If I Had Legs I’d Kick You,’ won the award for Best Actress in a Motion Picture.
A short clip showing the Emmy-winning actress, nominated for her role in ‘The Testament of Ann Lee,’ quickly went viral. It captured her making a brief, unhappy face before quickly putting on a smile and applauding.
Fans of Amanda Seyfried have suggested her reaction stemmed from the belief that she wouldn’t win, and that she deserved to be recognized for her work.
The actress has sparked controversy and a backlash from many people in America after publicly sharing her political opinions, leading to calls for a boycott of her films and shows.
Some people are trying to ‘cancel’ Heather Seymour, who recently appeared in the film ‘The Housemaid’ alongside Sydney Sweeney. Sweeney herself has faced criticism for her political views.

Last year, actress Megan Seyfried faced criticism for calling Charlie Kirk ‘hateful’ shortly after his death. Kirk, a prominent conservative influencer known for his campus debates, was fatally shot on September 10th at Utah Valley University at the age of 31.
The actress not only called him ‘hateful’ in a comment on a social media post about his passing, but she also shared a meme suggesting people had anticipated his death.
The meme said, ‘If you create a hostile situation, don’t be surprised when things turn aggressive.’
People on social media were very angry about her response to the crime, and she later released a statement to address the criticism.
‘We’re forgetting the nuance of humanity,’ she wrote in a text post on her Instagram.
I strongly condemn both misogyny and racist language, and I was deeply disturbed and appalled by the violent attack on Charlie Kirk. Everyone deserves to be safe and no one should ever have to go through something like that.
She went on to say that the nation is deeply saddened by the increasing number of unnecessary and violent deaths and shootings, and asked if everyone could at least agree on that point.
Look, I never want to make a situation worse, but it’s important to me to set the record straight. Something was really twisted and shared, and honestly, I can see why it happened, but it wasn’t accurate. I just want to offer some context.
‘Spirited discourse- isn’t that what we should be having?’

Even after receiving criticism, Seyfried stood by her statement and didn’t offer an apology when asked about it a couple of months later.
She firmly stated she wouldn’t apologize for her comment. She explained that it was based on facts, verified footage, and direct quotes, and she felt it was a reasonable opinion she was entitled to express.
Seyfried explained that sharing a statement after the controversy helped her feel like she could express herself again.
She said she was grateful for Instagram, explaining it helped her regain control of her own story. She felt her voice had been taken from her and twisted by others, which she acknowledged is something people often do.
The actress, known for her role in Mean Girls, also pointed out that talking about politics needs careful handling. She explained that she has to stay calm and focused when discussing controversial topics.
After she spoke out, many of her previous fans said on X (formerly Twitter) that they would no longer support her work.
I’ve been following the buzz around The Housemaid, and I saw some people online pointing out that Amanda Seyfried is in it. They mentioned she publicly called out Charlie Kirk after he passed away, and are now calling for a boycott because of that. It’s definitely sparked a lot of conversation!
‘Passed on that one with the Charlie Kirk hating Amanda Seyfried.’;
Has anyone seen this movie? I was really looking forward to it, but then I heard Amanda Seyfried was making negative comments about Charlie Kirk.
Amanda Seyfried, we’re considering a boycott of all your films, TV shows, magazines, and any products you endorse. Please consider the impact of your actions.
Amanda Seyfried, you don’t need to apologize for not knowing who Charlie Kirk is. But it’s important to remember that goes both ways – we aren’t obligated to educate you either. We wish you the best with your upcoming projects.

Seyfried later publicly embraced liberal values, calling socialism a positive concept because it emphasizes community support and shared responsibility.
I was chatting on Variety’s Award Circuit podcast recently, and we got talking about a really fascinating project I’m involved in – a musical called ‘The Testament of Ann Lee’. It’s all about the incredible woman who started the Shakers, a unique community built on shared living way back in the 18th century. It’s a story that really stuck with me, and I’m excited to share it with everyone!
When asked to explain the idea, she thought for a moment and said it meant looking out for one another. She explained that if she had extra money, she’d want to share it with others, asking if that made sense.
Seyfried added that it’s good everyone is discussing Ann Lee, as her work clearly highlights what’s missing today.
Let’s try approaching things without any hidden motives. What if our main goal was simply to look out for one another? The idea of socialism is beautiful, even though it’s not always practical in reality.
Amanda Seyfried has been discussing her new movie, The Housemaid, where she portrays a rich woman who employs a housekeeper with a difficult history.
It was a really fascinating collaboration, especially considering how much attention Sweeney’s been getting in the political sphere lately. It definitely added another layer to the whole thing!
Amanda Seyfried, famous for movies like Mean Girls and Jennifer’s Body, is now in the new film The Housemaid, alongside Sydney Sweeney, who has recently been the focus of political debate.

Last summer, 28-year-old model Kate Sweeney faced online backlash over an American Eagle ad campaign. The campaign used the phrase ‘good genes’ and featured a blonde, blue-eyed model, which some critics compared to imagery used in ‘Nazi propaganda’.
After facing criticism, it was revealed that Sydney Sweeney is a registered Republican, leading some fans on the left to express their disapproval.
President Donald Trump later weighed in on the controversy, joking: ‘Now I love her ad.’
After both Sydney Sweeney and Amanda Seyfried faced criticism for their political views, one social media user playfully commented on the expected sales of their film, ‘The Housemaid,’ saying people will be in a tricky position: they’ll want to support Sweeney but also participate in the boycott of Seyfried, making for a difficult choice.
The Housemaid was a big hit in theaters, earning over $133 million despite costing only $35 million to make.
Yet Seyfried’s attention is now back to The Testament of Ann Lee as she navigates awards season.
After a video of Amanda Seyfried’s reaction to not winning a Golden Globe went viral, fans on X commented that she seemed unbothered, despite appearing excited about potentially winning.
‘Now that was funny she was like I ain’t winning this’;
She realized she had no chance of winning and didn’t even want to face the camera. She felt like she was being treated unfairly.
‘Amanda already knows she’s not winning… but still hyped like she’s about to snatch the trophy’.

Seyfried didn’t win in the TV category either, despite being nominated for Long Bright River. Michelle Williams won instead for her work in Dying For Sex.
Amanda Seyfried won’t be receiving a BAFTA nomination for her performance in ‘The Testament of Ann Lee.’ She wasn’t included on the list of potential nominees released last week.
Oddsmakers think she might be nominated for an Oscar, but they don’t believe she’s likely to win.
Bookmakers Coral are currently giving the actress 40-1 odds to win Best Actress. This puts her behind Renate Reinsve (for her role in Sentimental Value), Emma Stone (Bugonia), and Jennifer Lawrence (Die My Love), who all have 33-1 odds.
Jessie Buckley is currently the favorite to win for her role in ‘Hamnet,’ with very strong odds of 1-12. She’s already received recognition for her performance, winning both a Critics Choice Award and a Golden Globe. Rose Byrne is the next most likely contender, with odds of 6-1.
