Iron Maiden singer dead: Paul Di'Anno dies aged 66 at his home in Wiltshire

As a lifelong Iron Maiden fan, I’m deeply saddened by the passing of Paul Di’Anno at the tender age of 66. Known as the “Godfather of British Heavy Metal,” his raw, powerful voice was the fuel that ignited the fire in those classic albums, Iron Maiden and Killers.

Former Iron Maiden singer Paul Di’Anno has died at the age of 66, his family announced on Monday.

Paul Andrews, more famously recognized as Di’Anno, tragically passed on in his residence situated in Salisbury, Wiltshire.

It is with heavy hearts that we, Conquest Music, announce the passing of Paul Andrews, who was widely recognized as Paul Di’Anno in the professional world. Our condolences go out to his family at this difficult time.

‘Paul passed away at his home in Salisbury at the age of 66.’

Back in the day, I was the one leading the charge for the heavy metal titans known as Iron Maiden during their groundbreaking releases, Iron Maiden (1980) and Killers (1981). However, it was later on that another powerhouse vocalist, Bruce Dickinson, took over the mic, leaving me in the past but never dimming my fervor for this legendary band.

The statement about his passing went on to say: ‘Paul, born in Chingford, East London on May 17th, 1958, initially gained recognition as the lead vocalist of the British Heavy Metal group Iron Maiden, from 1978 until 1981.’

He performed on their pioneering debut album titled Iron Maiden, as well as their subsequent impactful follow-up, Killers.

After parting ways with Iron Maiden, Paul Di’Anno embarked on a substantial and dynamic music journey, collaborating with bands like Battlezone and Killers, in addition to multiple solo projects and various guest performances.

Although he’s been dealing with significant health problems over the past few years, confining him to perform using a wheelchair, Paul hasn’t let that stop him from delighting his global fanbase. In fact, he’s managed more than 100 performances since 2023.

In September 2024, ‘The Book of the Beast’, his debut solo career compilation album, hit the shelves. This remarkable collection showcased his best works from his recording journey post his departure from Iron Maiden.

It gives us at Conquest Music great pride to have been part of the musical family that included Paul Di’Anno. We invite all his devoted fans to raise a toast in his honor.
