Approximately a month ago, Ioan Gruffudd disclosed distressing text messages purportedly sent by his children, who were apparently asking for monetary aid due to imminent eviction from the residence they shared with his former spouse, Alice Evans.
John, age 51, asserted that he was involved in a persistent pattern of bothering by the actress, who had a restraining order imposed upon her in 2022. He clarified that it wasn’t his children who had arranged for him to be there.
However, Alice, 56, denies harassing him, stalking him or contacting him in any way.
It’s now clear that his attempt to demonstrate he’s been a victim of harassment has suffered a significant setback in court.
John is aiming to have his temporary restraining order against his former spouse turned into a permanent one, but the esteemed attorney who has been handling his Domestic Violence Restraining Order case has decided to step down.
Matt Russakow asks the court to release him from his legal representation role, explaining that due to an unresolvable strain in the attorney-client relationship, he requests the court’s approval for this request.
This week, attempts to get a comment from Mr. Russakow regarding the cause of the ‘irreconcilable breakdown’ have gone unanswered.
According to the motion, it’s stated that Mr. Russakow, an accomplished attorney who graduated from Loyola Law School, with over two decades of experience under his belt, delivered legal documents to Gruffudd.

If there’s no consensus between him and Alice, who is an actress, regarding child and spousal support, as well as the duration of their restraining order (whether it gets dropped or extended), their divorce case will proceed to trial.
Gruffudd’s current legal representative, Mr. Russakow, continues to handle his financial disputes. At present, he is focusing on seeking an extension for the Domestic Violence Restraining Order (DVRO). It remains uncertain whether Gruffudd will choose to bring in a new attorney or decide to represent himself in future proceedings.
Last month, the actor known for roles in The Fantastic Four and Hornblower made a court appearance alongside his pregnant wife, Bianca, who aspires to be an actress. It is believed that they met in 2020 when she was an extra on the Australian-filmed TV series Harrow. He ended his relationship with Alice in January 2021, and by October 2021, their romance became public knowledge.
Bianca strongly denies that there was any romance between them when he was still married.
Ioan and Alice met on the set of 102 Dalmatians and have been legally divorced for two years.
Alice now has sole responsibility for the children and they reside comfortably, yet modestly, within the suburban neighborhood of Encino, nestled within the San Fernando Valley. Following financial struggles, they chose to vacate their residence in the trendy district of Beverly Hills due to escalating rental costs.
In his legal submission, Ioan stated that based on several messages exchanged between Ella and Elsie, he suspected Alice was responsible for sending the troubling communications.
In a message to Gruffudd from his daughter Ella, 15 years old: “Since you’ve moved away, we’re struggling without your support.
It seems essential for you to secure employment, dad. Caring for your partner doesn’t equate to a job. Regrettably, you’ve neglected your children by not seeing or speaking with them, and you haven’t sent Christmas gifts either. This is disappointing behavior that many people have noticed.
If we have sufficient funds to prevent us from becoming homeless, then why aren’t you lending a hand? It seems like your dislike for my mother exceeds your affection for us.
On both sides, the argument revolves around financial hardship. Specifically, Alice claims that their current income from Ioan – consisting of $3,000 per month for child support and an additional $1,500 per month for spousal support – is insufficient to cover living expenses, making it challenging to make ends meet.
In her court declaration supported by records, she admits that she is indebted to utility companies and has fallen behind on monthly rent payments totaling $6,500 at a Beverly Hills apartment, resulting in her eviction. Additionally, she owes $35,000 to her legal representative.
He’s trying to lower his expenses by arguing that he can’t find alternative employment with higher or better compensation.
Ioan has further argued in legal documents that the three-year injunction he received in August 2022 should be permanent, keeping her at a distance from both himself and Bianca. This order prevents her from discussing them in any form, whether it’s through interviews, media posts on social platforms, or otherwise.
The situation arose following Alice’s persistent sending of numerous offensive texts and emails, which led one person to remark, “It seems she’s got you in her sights, like a fox with its teeth sunk into an apple.
Last year, Alice expressed remorse over past actions and mentioned that she hadn’t reached out to him for many years in a court document.
She recognizes why the court granted the restraining order, and regrets that she ever sent those messages or posted on social media.
Due to the sudden emotional distress I experienced from our marriage ending unexpectedly and Ioan publicly announcing a new romance on social media, which our oldest child found through an Instagram post, my actions were driven by this profound upset.
When asked about the number of times his ex-partner supposedly violated the court order since it was issued, Ioan estimated that it had happened around 5,000 times.
This translates to approximately 138 instances a month, which equates to around four occurrences per day. However, Alice refutes this claim. Ioan alleges that his former spouse has primarily harassed him using unidentified Twitter accounts, but he also asserts that she has physically followed or stalked him in person.
She retorted: ‘Not a shred of proof exists that I’ve been stalking… Honestly, I don’t know where he and his spouse reside, and I certainly don’t harbor any intention to stalk them. The entire claim is preposterous.’
She additionally refutes Ioan’s claim that she intentionally became homeless in June as a means to portray him negatively, stating instead that such an assertion is completely preposterous.
She also rejects Ioan’s argument that she deliberately rendered herself homeless in June for the purpose of making him appear poorly, which she deems utterly unreasonable.
2023 witnessed an unfortunate event occurring during a visitation, where Ella, who is now 15, came face-to-face with her father’s recently acquired companion for the very first time.
She expressed that she didn’t wish to encounter Bianca. In legal paperwork, Ioan stated that Ella responded angrily upon seeing Bianca and damaged the apartment.
