Invincible Creator on Why More Spin-offs Haven’t Happened Yet

People who love the popular animated show Invincible on Amazon Prime Video have been hoping to hear about possible new series based on the show’s characters. The show is built on a large world created by Robert Kirkman in his original comic books, and fans have been wondering when more spin-offs might be announced. Now, the creator himself has given an answer.

Robert Kirkman reveals why Invincible spin-offs haven’t happened

While promoting the upcoming fourth season of Invincible (releasing on Amazon Prime Video March 18th), creator Robert Kirkman discussed the franchise’s future with The Direct. He confirmed they’re considering spin-off projects after the Atom Eve special, but a lack of time is currently the biggest challenge.

We’re eager to expand the world of ‘Invincible,’ but our priority is releasing new seasons annually,” Kirkman explained. “The sheer scale of the show is incredibly challenging, and it’s currently taking all of our energy to manage.”

I remember when the Atom Eve special came out, and honestly, it was a lifesaver! There was such a long wait between the first and second seasons of Invincible, and Robert Kirkman said it was created to help bridge that gap and get us fans excited again. Since then, the team has really been concentrating on keeping a consistent schedule for the main show, which is great. But Kirkman also hinted that they’ve got tons of ideas for exploring other parts of the Invincible universe down the line, and I’m really hoping they do! It leaves me wondering what cool stories they’ll tell next.

The world of the Invincible comic has grown beyond the main series, with several popular spin-offs like Atom Eve & Rex Splode, The Pact, Brit, and Guarding the Globe. Last April, creator Kirkman announced another spin-off, Battle Beast, which tells the story of the beloved character between his appearances in Invincible.

Now that Season 4 of Invincible is coming, Robert Kirkman has hinted that other related projects might take a while longer to appear. Still, there’s a lot of exciting potential for the future of the Invincible universe.
