Inside tragic King of the Hill star Jonathan Joss’ shock final public appearance two days before his murder
Not long after the unexpected killing of Jonathan Joss, who played the role of King of the Hill‘s protagonist, fresh facts are emerging about his last public outing.
The performer is primarily recognized for giving voice to John Redcorn in the animated show “King of the Hill” on Fox, as well as for portraying Chief Ken Hoate in the television series “Parks and Recreation”.
Sigfredo Alvarez Ceja, who was only 59 years old, was reportedly fatally shot following a dispute with his neighbor, the circumstances of which they had previously clashed over.
2021 has been a challenging year for Joss so far. In January, his house in San Antonio tragically caught fire, leaving him homeless and losing two out of his three beloved dogs. The whereabouts of their remaining pet is yet to be found.
He shared with KSAT that he was experiencing problems with his electricity. To maintain warmth in his home, he’s been relying on a propane heater. However, he subtly implied that it’s possible someone might have tampered with the system, but he wasn’t certain.
Two days prior to his passing, Joss gained attention after unexpectedly disrupting a King of the Hill panel during the ATV TV Festival in Austin, Texas. Variety later disclosed additional information regarding this unsolicited incident.

The ATX panel was organized to mark the return of the show, premiering on August 4th on Hulu. Creators Mike Judge, known for voicing Hank Hill and Boomhauer, along with Greg Daniels, were joined by three voice actors – Pamela Adlon as Bobby Hill, Toby Huss as Dale Gribble, and Lauren Tom as Connie – at the event.
Michael Schneider served as the moderator for the panel discussion, explaining that this event was intended to be a more intimate setting, hence Joss Whedon was not included in the panel.
Schneider mentioned that Joss appeared upset due to being left off the panel, and instead of waiting, he took action himself. He vacated his spot in the audience and marched towards the microphones prepared for audience questions, though at this point they hadn’t been activated yet.
In a conversation about Johnny Hardwick, who originally voiced Dale Gribble and was later replaced by Toby Huss, Joss approached the microphone. At that moment, Daniels spontaneously introduced Joss to the audience as the voice actor for John Redcorn.
Regarding Johnny, there’s something I’d like to share. Earlier, he told me not to stand in a certain spot, maybe unaware that my property had been sold. He mentioned the microphone wouldn’t be used, but as an actor, I can’t help but use whatever resources are available. When I see an issue, I feel compelled to address it. That’s what Joss expressed.
In a recollection of events, it was mentioned that three months prior, their house had been destroyed by fire. This reminder came up as Schneider noted someone in the crowd exclaimed, “Oh dear Bobby!” just before Joss added that the reason for the fire was because he is gay.
Schneider pointed out that the panel appeared stuck and left the audience uncertain about their response. One member even let out a surprised “Uh,” as Joss countered, “Really? You’re following the same pattern. The mind is overflowing with feelings. It’s genuine.
He eventually discussed Johnny Hardwick, saying, “Johnny, it was you he crafted the character, for he embodies that role himself.

The judge brought back Joss to voice John Redcorn once more. At that moment, Joss voluntarily stepped away from the microphone and moved past the stage. It’s worth noting that Schneider mentioned he wasn’t forced to leave by security.
Following the private discussion backstage, Schneider disclosed that the panelists consented it was the appropriate action to allow him to talk without resorting to security, albeit the audience question-and-answer session was omitted following Joss’ interruption.
He found the interruption to be quite disruptive, with Schneider clarifying misconceptions that his frustration stemmed from not being part of Season 14 (his frustration was actually due to not being on the panel). He emphasized that security did not prevent him from expressing himself, contrary to some claims.
According to neighbors, the city turned off Joss’ electricity as they considered the house to be both dangerous and unsuitable for living in.
According to Joss’ neighbors, it was said that the house caught fire due to Joss using a barbecue grill for heating purposes instead of its intended use.
Tristan Kern de Gonzales’ wife asserted that he was killed following a two-year period of harassment from openly intolerant individuals who refused to acknowledge their relationship.
Upon our return to the location to collect our mail, we found the skull of our canine companion displayed prominently, along with its harness. This sighting greatly upset us emotionally, as a resident of South Carolina shared in a Facebook post.
As we were going about our actions, a man suddenly came up to us. Instead of speaking politely, he began shouting hateful, homophobic remarks at us. To make matters worse, he pulled out a gun from his lap and shot it. Neither Jonathan nor I had any means to defend ourselves, and we certainly weren’t threatening anyone or causing harm. We were simply mourning our loss. Standing next to each other, we were caught off guard when the man fired. In an instant of courage, Jonathan shoved me out of the way, sacrificing his own safety to protect mine.

Instead of saying, “Tristan added: ‘My focus now is on protecting Jonathan’s legacy and honoring the life we built together,'” you could also phrase it as, “Tristan stated that he’s committed to safeguarding Jonathan’s legacy and commemorating the life they had created together.
It appears that Joss’ neighbor, Ceja, was apprehended by the authorities for suspected murder. Currently, he’s in custody with a bond set at $200,000.
According to a report from the San Antonio Police Department, which was acquired by DailyMail.com, Ceja reportedly said “I shot him” when he was being apprehended by the officers who made the arrest.
According to the recent report, new information has been revealed regarding the events leading up to the violent incident. An anonymous witness claimed that they transported Joss from Austin to his burnt-down residence in San Antonio at approximately 7 pm on June 1, with the intention of retrieving his mail.
According to the witness, she stopped her vehicle in the driveway and stayed put as she awaited Joss and another individual to retrieve the mail. Tristan Kern de Gonzales, husband of Joss, asserted that he accompanied the actor on this particular journey and was present during the alleged crime.
