As a long-time follower and admirer of Jackie O Henderson, I was truly moved by her brave admission about her struggle with drug and alcohol addiction. It takes immense courage to share such personal experiences, especially when it involves acknowledging one’s own shortcomings.

On a Thursday, Jackie O Henderson confessed a surprising fact: she had sought treatment in rehabilitation centers due to struggles with substance abuse involving drugs and alcohol.

49-year-old radio host emotionally revealed on The Kyle and Jackie O Show that she sought treatment at the Betty Ford Center in California last November, taking a prolonged leave from her popular radio show for this purpose.

A well-known U.S. rehabilitation center has assisted numerous famous figures in conquering their battles with substance abuse issues.

Established in 1982, the initial facility is found in Rancho Mirage, California, a location close to Palm Springs. This center was brought into being not only by Betty Ford, wife of ex-US President Gerald Ford, but also by Dr. James West.

Betty found the motivation to create the center after personally facing struggles with alcoholism and diazepam dependency.

It provides a range of treatments including in-house (inpatient), regular clinic visits (outpatient), and daily center-based care (residential day treatment) for individuals struggling with alcohol and substance abuse issues.

At the Betty Ford Center, there are 100 beds available for inpatients on campus, plus accommodations for 84 patients participating in a residential day treatment program.

This facility is renowned for its rigorous and uncompromising approach to rehabilitation, which can be challenging even for some patients, particularly those who are accustomed to luxury and indulgence.

In 2014, the Betty Ford Center combined forces with the Hazelden Foundation, resulting in the establishment of the Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation.

There are now 15 Hazelden Betty Ford clinics across the United States.

Notable individuals who have previously sought treatment here are Elizabeth Taylor, Gary Busey, Johnny Cash, Robert Downey Jr., Kelsey Grammer, David Hasselhoff, Mickey Mantle, Liza Minnelli, Ozzy Osbourne, Chevy Chase, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Anna Nicole Smith.

The center charges anywhere from $30,000 to $60,000 for a month-long stay, depending on the program.

One frequent visitor to the Center is actress Lindsay Lohan.

2010 saw Lindsay check into a residential rehab center. She left this facility just 23 days later, but in October, she was admitted to the Betty Ford Center, which she stayed at under a court order for about three months, until early January 2011.

She returned to the facility in 2013 to undergo 90 days of court-mandated therapy as part of her sentence for reckless driving.

Country music star Keith Urban has openly fought against substance abuse issues, seeking treatment multiple times at rehabilitation centers.

In October 2006, he made his latest visit to the Betty Ford Center, which occurred only a few months following his wedding with Nicole Kidman.

In a passage taken from Jeff Apter’s book “Keith Urban,” it is mentioned that Keith once reminisced about the time when his wife took action to address his struggles with addiction.

In 2016, Keith admitted to Rolling Stone that if Nicole decided to part ways with him following his 2006 rehabilitation, he would have empathized, considering their wedding had taken place not long before his stint in rehab.

Keith expressed his deep gratitude for Nic’s intervention, stating that his irresponsible actions had ultimately led to the collapse of his newly-wedded life.

Matthew Perry, previously known for his role on Friends and who sadly passed away in October 2023 due to drowning at home in a jacuzzi, had also been treated at the center. His stay spanned 28 days in 1997 at their Minnesota facility. This was due to an addiction to pain medication that he developed following a jet ski accident.

In 2022, the actor known for portraying Chandler Bing on the famous sitcom confided to The New York Times that he had invested nearly $9 million towards his recovery process.

Prior to his passing, reports from TMZ indicated that Matthew had been initiating a charitable organization akin to the Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation, with the aim of providing financial support for addiction treatment programs.

In 2022, Jackie O openly disclosed that she had undergone a 28-day stay at a rehabilitation center due to an addiction involving painkillers, sedatives, and alcohol.

Jackie allegedly admitted to consuming approximately 10-12 Stilnox/Zolpidem sleep aid pills and 24 Panadeine Forte painkillers each day at the peak of her dependency.

The radio queen admitted she would often take the medications while drinking alcohol.
