This past weekend, the iconic ninja from Sega made a triumphant comeback to New York City as SHINOBI: Art of Vengeance was officially released at Hypegolf Clubhouse in SoHo. The lower level of 147 Grand Street was converted into a complete SEGA gaming lounge, where fans enjoyed three days filled with gameplay, exclusive merchandise, and a grand celebration honoring nearly four decades of Shinobi history.
The focus of all the excitement was the exclusive Anti Social Social Club x Shinobi collection, which showcased t-shirts celebrating the franchise’s evolution from its console days up to the present. The event combined this merchandise, contests offering collectible posters, and the enthusiasm of golf enthusiasts and players wanting to play the game, creating a genuine blend of gaming, streetwear, and sports culture.

Within the space, SEGA decorated walls and shelves with artwork from previous Shinobi games on the walls, along with visually striking pieces from the latest release. Visitors had the chance to test their skills on the newest PS5 setups and reminisce about the past with the Genesis Mini, allowing them to play Shinobi III: Return of the Ninja Master from 1993. It was a unique experience to compare the origins of the franchise with the exciting new direction of the latest title-all in one location.

What truly set the occasion apart was the game itself – SHINOBI: Art of Vengeance, developed by Lizardcube and published by SEGA. This game brought us back to the iconic hero, Joe Musashi, from the series. Staying true to its side-scrolling roots, it offered sharp katana combats, shuriken throws, and mystical Ninpo techniques, all while incorporating modern elements such as branching skill trees, open-ended level design, and adjustable difficulty levels. The hand-drawn animation provides a smooth, cinematic experience, merging nostalgia with the quality we’ve come to expect from today’s top-tier games.
In one unified setting, the launch event blended elements of gaming, style, and even golf tradition – a testament to Shinobi’s lasting appeal due to its versatility and cultural resonance throughout different generations. The SEGA Gaming Lounge at the Hypegolf Clubhouse successfully brought back one of the gaming world’s legendary ninjas. For those who couldn’t attend, I’m thrilled to announce that SHINOBI: Art of Vengeance is now available on your preferred platforms!
