Inside Out 2 overtakes beloved children’s movie to become top animated film of all time at global box office with $1.4BN
As a dedicated follower of animated films, I have been absolutely thrilled to witness the extraordinary success of Inside Out 2 at the box office. The movie’s latest achievement of surpassing Frozen II as the highest-grossing animated film ever is an impressive feat that speaks volumes about its appeal and universal resonance with audiences around the world.
The earnings at the global box office for Pixar’s Inside Out 2 keep soaring, reaching an impressive total of over $1.462 billion by midweek, outpacing yet another hit animated film.
On Tuesday, as reported by The Hollywood Rep Thor, the movie with Amy Poehler and Maya Hawke portraying Joy and Anxiety respectively, earned more than the 2019 Disney blockbuster Frozen II ($1.45 billion) at the global box office. In simpler terms, the new film surpassed Frozen II’s earnings at the worldwide box office on that day.
Based on data from THR, as of last Wednesday, Inside Out 2 had generated a total box office revenue of $1.462 billion – $601 million in the US and $861.8 million from international markets – since its release on June 14.
In the autumn of 2019, Frozen II from Disney Animation generated a worldwide earnings of approximately $1.451 billion at the box office. The film brought in around $477 million within the US market, while its international sales amounted to about $972 million, according to Box Office Mojo’s records.
After Inside Out 2 became the highest-earning animated film, Frozen II moved up to the second position in box office revenue for animated movies, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter.
I’ve been absolutely enamored with box office successes, and here are the top earners in my collection: In 2023, The Super Mario Bros. Movie raked in an impressive $1.36 billion. Fast forward to 2013, Frozen added another $1.27 billion to the pot. The Incredibles 2 from 2018 brought home a cool $1.24 billion. Minions, released in 2015, earned an astounding $1.15 billion. Toy Story 4 (2019) joined the billion-dollar club with a revenue of $1.07 billion. Despicable Me 3 from 2017 contributed $1.03 billion to this list. And let’s not forget Finding Dory, which hit the jackpot in 2016 with a revenue of $1 billion.
As a lifestyle expert, I’d put it this way: “If we take a closer look at box office successes, Inside Out 2 has truly made an impression. It recently surpassed the impressive earnings of Barbie in 2023, becoming the 13th highest-grossing film in history. Since its release last summer, it’s consistently brought in top dollars.”
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Inside Out 2 is expected to exceed the domestic box office earnings of Incredibles 2, which brought in $608 million, within a few days. These are currently the top-grossing animated films in North America, surpassing the $600 million mark.
In Europe and Latin America, the release of Inside Out 2 has been financially successful, raking in over $55 million in South Korea alone. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Disney is hopeful for similar success in Japan, where the film has yet to be premiered.
As a long-time Pixar fan and moviegoer, I’m thrilled to share my excitement about the recent box office success of the latest Pixar release. This new film has truly outshone its predecessors by becoming the highest-grossing Pixar production in worldwide box office sales, surpassing the earnings of “Incredibles 2,” without considering inflation adjustments. I’ve been following Pixar’s films since their inception and have always admired their ability to captivate audiences of all ages with their unique storytelling and stunning animation. With each new release, I eagerly anticipate the magical experience that comes with watching a Pixar film, and this latest addition has not only met but exceeded my expectations. The success of this movie is a testament to the enduring appeal of Pixar’s brand and their unwavering commitment to delivering high-quality entertainment. I can’t wait to see what they come up with next!
After a series of disappointing box office performances with films like “Lightyear” (2022), “Strange World” (2022), and “Elemental” (2023), the massive success of “Inside Out 2” has become a significant comeback for both Pixar and Disney.
The film in question bucked the norm for family movie viewers, who typically anticipate streaming its release rather than attending a theater premiere, as reported by THR.
According to a report from The Direct, the film scheduled for release as a motion picture will spend approximately 100 days in total at cinemas. It is projected to become available on Disney+ streaming service around late September or early October.

Kelsey Mann helmed the production of Inside Out 2, with noteworthy performances by Ayo Edebiri, Kensington Tallman, Liza Lapira, Tony Hale, Lewis Black, Phyllis Smith, Lilimar, and Grace Lu forming an impressive ensemble.
The movie’s plot revolves around the experiences of 13-year-old Riley (Tallman), navigating the complex world of adolescence, hormonal changes, and high school.
As an obsessed fan, I can’t help but feel excited about the newest addition to my favorite movie’s cast of emotions! In the original film, we were moved by Joy, Sadness, Fear, Anger, and Disgust. But now, there are five newcomers that have joined the crew: Anxiety, Envy, Embarrassment, Ennui, and Nostalgia. Each one adds a unique depth to the story, making it even more captivating for me as a viewer.
