The Australian entertainment industry is mourning the sudden death of reality TV star Konrad Bien-Stephen.

Konrad is understood to have died in Melbourne on Monday night.

A manager confirmed the news to The Daily Mail on Thursday. The CEO of the management company said it was a private matter and wouldn’t offer any additional details.

I’ve been following her journey since she first appeared on TV, and it’s been fascinating to watch! After becoming a household name, she really started dating some very well-known people – it seemed like one exciting relationship after another.

He first gained public attention in 2021 on the reality show The Bachelorette while competing for Brooke Blurton’s affection. He quickly became popular with viewers and reached the final four contestants before being eliminated.

Despite a connection, Brooke and Konrad’s relationship didn’t work out, and she eliminated him during the hometown visits portion of the show.

After becoming well-known from a dating show, Konrad quickly became involved in a very public open relationship with Abbie Chatfield.

The couple announced their breakup in 2022, shortly before he traveled to Buenos Aires to film The Challenge Australia.

Taking to Instagram on Thursday, Abbie shared a heartfelt tribute to her former partner. 

She shared that she learned about Konrad’s passing a few days ago and expressed her gratitude to those who reached out with condolences or support.

This is a really tough and unsettling time for me personally, and I’m deeply saddened by what happened to Konrad, as well as for everyone who knew and loved him. I’m truly heartbroken.

Please extend your heartfelt sympathy and support to Konrad’s friends, family, and everyone who cared for him. He was deeply loved by so many people, and he loved them in return. I’m incredibly saddened for everyone affected by this loss, knowing how much he meant to them – even to those who didn’t have the chance to meet him.

Konrad was a genuinely kind and sweet man who cared deeply for others. It’s incredibly sad that he’s gone, and that his family and friends won’t have the chance to share many more years with him. He deserved a long and happy life.

Abbie went on to urge her followers to ‘check in on their mates’.

She said Konrad would have wanted everyone to spread love and kindness. If you do one thing today, please reach out to your friends, do something nice for someone, or just have a chat with a friend – anything at all.

During Konrad’s time on The Challenge, he struck up a brief romance with co-star Megan Marx.

The carpenter shared with The Daily Telegraph that he and Abbie had split up a month prior to filming, meaning he was single at the time.

Stars from The Bachelor were visibly affectionate in a hot tub, while Brooke, who previously dated Konrad on The Bachelorette, observed the scene from a window nearby.

Konrad revealed he and his former girlfriend, Abbie Chatfield, had split up a month before he went to Buenos Aires to start filming the show.

After being eliminated from the show, Konrad shared that his relationship with Megan didn’t last, but they’ve decided to stay friends.

He described Megan as a wonderful, open-minded, and intelligent person, according to a Yahoo Lifestyle report.

He explained that it was simply good to have someone to connect with physically and emotionally, without the pressure of a relationship or anything serious.

Konrad has openly discussed his mental health in the past. He recently started dating singer-songwriter Thelma, and rumors of a relationship began in early December 2022 after they were seen together at a gala hosted by the National Gallery of Victoria.

He previously told Yahoo Lifestyle that he was madly in love with Thelma.

Konrad expressed how happy he was to have met the singer-songwriter and shared his excitement about their future together.

You know, I’m feeling incredibly grateful right now. I’m so in love with my partner, and honestly, life feels really good. I’m just full of positive energy and can’t wait to see what the future holds. It’s a wonderful feeling!

We don’t know exactly when Konrad and Thelma broke up, but it seems they parted ways on good terms, as they still follow each other on social media.

Following the news, Megan shared a heartbreaking tribute to Konrad. 

The Bachelor star posted a carousel of images documenting her friendship with Konrad. 

Megan wrote that Konrad had unexpectedly left their difficult journey, before they were prepared for him to do so.

He was a truly good friend, and incredibly funny! He had a wonderful wit and a knack for making me laugh – that deep, heartfelt kind of laugh that brightens your whole day.

Continuing, Megan added that the news was particularly given future plans he had divulged.

She remembered all the things he’d planned to do: a long horseback ride through the countryside, playing the fiddle, motorcycle adventures, and bravely sharing his artwork with others.

‘Trying to make the world a little better. Homey. All the pieces of a life still calling to him.

Megan said she hoped Konnie was somewhere with plenty of space and good music, and that she had time to complete her goals. She added that she already missed Konnie and loved her.

The post was met with an outpouring of condolences from friends, fans and followers.

As a big fan of both Alex and Brittany, it really hit me hard to see them sharing their sadness. Alex just put it perfectly – it was absolutely heartbreaking to hear the news.
