Inside I’m A Celeb star Alan Halsall’s dramatic weight loss after split from Corrie co-star saw him embark on gruelling workouts and hot yoga
As I delve into the vibrant world of these Coronation Street stars, I can’t help but be amazed by their resilience and determination to transform their lives. Take Alan Halsall, for instance – a man who has faced heartbreak, found love, and then lost it again, all while juggling a demanding acting career. His dedication to fitness and health is truly inspiring, making me wish I had his willpower when it comes to my morning smoothie!
In more straightforward terms, actor Alan Halsall has experienced a remarkable physical change over the past few years. Given that he’s about to join the I’m A Celebrity jungle, it’s likely we’ll see his well-toned body when he is compelled to take a shower in the famous lagoon.
As I navigated through the challenges of my 2018 divorce with my former Coronation Street co-star Lucy-Jo Hudson (who portrayed Katy Harris), I found myself focusing more on personal wellness and adopting a healthier lifestyle. This shift in focus led to noticeable changes in my physical appearance, with a leaner physique becoming more prominent.
Alan, who has an 11-year-old daughter Sienna-Rae with his former spouse, has disclosed that he’s adopted a more health-conscious approach to life, focusing on a disciplined eating plan and intense exercise routines.
In 2019, the actor who portrays Tyronne Dobbs on ITV’s series was interviewed by The Sun, revealing that he visits the gym at least three days a week. He clocks in approximately 2.5 kilometers on various equipment like treadmills, stationary bikes, rowing machines, and cross trainers during his workouts.
At the given time, he shared with the media outlet: “I’ve undergone some changes and those around me have noticed it.
I enjoy visiting the gym. Before my workout, I eat a pre-exercise meal, then I exercise, followed by a post-workout meal or a dip in the pool and some time in the sauna.
Frequently, he posts pictures from his workout routines on Instagram with his fellow actor Colson Smith (age 26). Notably, Colson has shed an impressive 10 stone in weight.
In a 2019 social media update, Alan shared that he was burning approximately 2,000 calories daily through his intense workout routines which often lasted close to three hours, resulting in a total of 2,144 calories burned on one particular occasion.
On the next day, he performed two more workout sessions by himself in the morning. In the first session, he worked out for nearly 2 hours and 30 minutes, burning approximately 1610 calories.
After that, he continued to train for an additional 49 minutes, burning an extra 477 calories, and commented: ‘I’ve used 4321 calories in 24 hours. Time for a beer now.’ It’s worth noting that the average daily calorie intake for a man is approximately 2,500 calories.
Apart from the usual yoga, Alan enjoys hot yoga too – it’s a style done in a warm studio where they claim it aids detoxification by sweating and may contribute to weight management as well.
The actor even bonded over the practise with his then girlfriend and co-star Tisha Merry, who played Steph Britton.
Previously, Alan shared with OK! that he had taken up hot yoga and learned that Tisha attended the same studio. Thinking it would be fun, he suggested they practice together.
In 2019, the couple began their relationship as Tisha stepped down from her soap opera part; they later separated this year, apparently growing apart over time.
Lucy-Jo parted ways with Alan back in May 2018 following almost nine years of matrimony; it came to light that she had already started dating Lewis Devine only two months after the separation.
Yet, it wasn’t until October of that particular year that she made their relationship public. She chose Instagram as the platform to express her heartfelt feelings for her boyfriend, who she co-starred with in the 2017 production of Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs pantomime.
In 2020, it appeared that Alan took issue with his ex-wife’s new partner when the latter claimed Sienna-Rae, their shared daughter, as his own.
I couldn’t help but notice, with all the excitement bubbling within me, my favorite actor decided to respond to Lewis’ heartfelt post about the arrival of his newborn son Carter. It was as if he was speaking directly to me!
In the midst of his joy at being a new father, Lewis commended Lucy-Jo and Alan’s six-year-old daughter, Sienna. He said, “Sienna seems thrilled and is naturally taking on her role as a big sister wonderfully, just as I expected she would!
In an Instagram post that was later removed, as reported by The Sun, it seemed like Alan may not have been fond of Lewis using the word “our” and appeared to respond defensively towards Lewis’ new partner.
He wrote: ‘You’re welcome to keep the lying cheating one & call her your own! But not my daughter.’
TopMob contacted representatives of Alan and Lucy for comment at the time.
I’m A Celebrity stars on ITV and ITVX at 9pm on Sunday.
