As I delve into the life story of Coleen Rooney, I am deeply moved by her resilience and strength in the face of adversity. Her journey, marked by love, loss, and triumph, is a testament to the human spirit’s ability to find solace and hope amidst the darkest of times.

On Monday, Colleen Rooney showed strong feelings as she shared with her fellow contestant on “I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!” about the heartbreaking passing of her younger sister, Rosie.

38-year-old WAG (Wives and Girlfriends of footballers) discussed her fellow campmate Rosie, who sadly lost her life in 2013 at the age of 14 due to Rett syndrome, an uncommon neurological disorder that leads to severe impairments.

Observing boxer Barry McGuigan’s emotional words after the death of his daughter Danika from cancer in 2019 at age 33, it was clear that Coleen was battling her own sorrow.

Speaking candidly with Dean McCullough and Oti Mabuse, she shared, ‘I rarely let things disturb me deeply. It requires significant effort. Even after the passing of Rosie, I maintained my composure for the sake of my parents.’

She went on: ‘When you’re away and in different environments, it’s when you’ve got time to stop and think. Rosie’s anniversary is January.’

Colleen stated, “She passed away at the age of 14, which would make her 26 years old today. Losing a child is difficult, something I’ve often mentioned… and we’re fortunate for what we still possess.

The television host had the responsibility of nurturing her younger sister from the time they were foster children, with their family welcoming little Rosie into their home when she was just two.

When Coleen was in her twenties, she traveled twice – in the years 2008 and 2010 – to Lourdes, France, with the hope of witnessing a healing miracle for Rosie through prayer.

Lourdes, a highly respected location for Roman Catholics, is famous due to the belief that it was here where a 14-year-old girl named Bernadette Soubirous claimed to encounter the appearance of the Virgin Mary in the year 1858.

Year after year, I join the crowd of approximately six million others who make a pilgrimage to the peaceful town of Lourdes. Many of us come here to immerse ourselves in the serene spring waters of the grotto, waters believed to hold healing properties and grant miracles. We gather at its altar to offer our heartfelt prayers.

During poignant moments in her Disney+ show chronicling the Wagatha Christie scandal, Colleen found herself overcome with emotion as she spoke about her deceased sibling, weeping visibly.

As a devoted admirer, I can’t help but share this revelation: My family initially only offered temporary care, but it wasn’t long before it struck us – Rosie was exceptional, unlike anyone we’d ever known before.

she remembered: “Rosie significantly joined our family. She turned out to be the sister I hadn’t anticipated having.

In conversation with her mom, Colette, and dad, Tony, Coleen said, “I used to style her hair and enjoyed shopping for outfits with my mom. She always added a special touch to our home. We couldn’t help but adore her.

However, it wasn’t long before the family understood that Rosie was facing difficulties in her growth and learning process. Following a sequence of medical examinations at the hospital, she was ultimately diagnosed with Rett Syndrome.

Colleen shared that despite struggling immensely with walking, talking, enduring pain, and feeling unwell, Rosie managed to keep a smile on her face.

‘Sometimes she used to force a laugh out. I think it was just to make my mum and dad happy.

‘Gradually her brain wasn’t functioning so she couldn’t eat anymore, couldn’t talk, move.’

Due to her requiring round-the-clock attention and having faced numerous health issues that necessitated intensive care admission, Collette disclosed that the family chose to bring Rosie back home so she could spend her last moments in the company of her dear ones.

Last night, I hosted a heartfelt slumber party, our final gathering as a group. It was an emotional evening spent cherishing each other’s company. To honor her memory and life, we celebrated with a grand farewell bash the following day.

Overwhelmed with emotion, Colleen expressed, “Losing a child is the most devastating experience one could endure. Yet, upon reflection, she gifted us with countless years filled with joy and love.

10 years after Rosie’s passing, Coleen shared how it affected her: “The events in my life have led me to strive for strength in supporting others.

‘I don’t want people worrying about me when there’s other things going on in their life but sometimes I can crack.’

Later on, Colette proposed an idea that her daughter hadn’t completely understood the ordeal she had experienced until she moved to America, specifically when Wayne joined D.C United.

She mentioned: “It’s already been 10 years, and Colleen hasn’t talked about it extensively. Given her extensive free time in America, I assume she spent a considerable amount of time pondering it.

‘But she hides a lot so it’s hard to say what is going on in her mind.’

Coleen marked the anniversary of Rosie’s death at the start of the year, with a moving tribute.

She posted numerous adorable pictures of her teenage sister along with her oldest son Kai (born in 2009) on Instagram.

She expressed her love for her deceased sibling, saying it was as deep as reaching to the moon and beyond, on the anniversary of her heart-wrenching passing, which occurred 11 years ago.

Coleen captioned the post: ’11 years without you. We love and miss you always Rosie Mc.’
