Despite growing up in Australia since the age of three, Lindy Klim maintains a strong sense of pride in her Balinese noble lineage, as she was born into a royal family.
Despite her aristocratic lineage as a socialite, her late great uncle, Ida Cokorda Pemecutan XI, the final king of Denpasar, carried a troubled past into his life.
On the 22nd of December, 2021, Cokorda Pemecutan XI passed away due to heart complications at the age of 76. He leaves behind four offspring, yet there is a lesser-known, questionable criminal background that he possessed.
Although Lindy, aged 45, often mentions her historical connections with Cokorda Pemecutan, she has neither discussed nor maybe remains ignorant of his past criminal conviction for murder.
In simpler terms, Cokorda Pemecutan served a one-year sentence at Kerobokan Penitentiary in Denpasar due to the murder of his stepbrother Anak Agung Ngurah Putu Paranacita, which occurred on November 11, 2003.
In my recounting, I bear witness that, during a heated family disagreement, I unfortunately witnessed our late monarch wielding a sword to strike Paranacita, as revealed by records recently disclosed by the Supreme Court of the Republic of Indonesia.

At the site, Cokorda Pemecutan willingly handed himself over to the police upon learning that Paranacita had tragically passed away en route to the hospital.
In Australia, it might come as new information that a family member of Lindy has a criminal past, but people in Bali are already well-aware of the related incident.
In the popular tourist destination, it’s commonly acknowledged that the murder of a certain individual (Cokorda Pemecutan) and his subsequent incarceration are well-known events.
As a die-hard admirer, let me share this tidbit – I’ve come to understand that everyone in Bali seems to be privy to it! In fact, this topic has been gracing the news headlines in Indonesia for quite a spell now.
It’s rather shocking that this issue hasn’t been brought up in the Australian media until now, especially considering Lindy is back.
‘I travel to Bali frequently, and it’s common knowledge.’
For the past fifteen years, Lindy had been living a lavish lifestyle in Bali. However, following her separation from property developer Adam Ellis, she moved back to Australia in February.
The source continued by expressing their uncertainty as to why Cokorda Pemecutan might have murdered his brother. However, they speculated that the potential causes could be related to disputes over financial matters, property ownership, or a struggle for power.

Daily Mail can reveal the insider wasn’t far off their guess.
It’s said that Anak Agung Oka Rama’s uncle, Cokorda Pemecutan, was involved in a fatal dispute with his stepbrother, apparently stemming from a disagreement about constructing a boundary wall.
In simpler terms, there was a heated argument among the royal family of Puri Pemecutan Bali, led by King Anak Agung Ngurah Manik Parasara, concerning a building project on the palace premises.
At Pemecutan Palace, Cokorda Pemecutan proposed the idea of constructing a boundary wall, but some of his brothers opposed and disputed this plan for building the wall.
The late king was allegedly tried for trying to assert authority over the palace grounds, a space that was believed to be communal property among all members of the royal family.
In solidarity and resistance, I, along with many kin closely related to Cokorda Pemecutan, physically dismantled the disputed barrier ourselves.
A swift gathering was organized among the king, his siblings, and his child, yet the passionate discussion soon reached an impasse and escalated into physical conflict. Alternatively, one could say that a prompt family assembly occurred, involving the king, his brothers, and his son; however, the intense conversation soon stalemated and morphed into a heated dispute.
At that time, local news outlets indicated an altercation took place between Paranacita and Anak Agung Darma Negara, the son of Cokorda Pemecutan.

In the heat of the dispute, Cokorda Pemecutan stepped in to defend his son, but unfortunately, he was defeated by his stepbrother, Paranacita.
As per court records, Paranacita verbally abused Cokorda Pemecutan during their altercation, doing so by stepping onto his head in a fish-filled pool.
Officials declared that the conflict ceased, with Paranacita halting the violence and insisting on a peaceful dialogue regarding the topic in question.
However, angered by the gesture, Cokorda Pemecutan rejected the peace offering and instead drew a sword from its wall-mounted sheath to attack his stepbrother.
Or, in a more colloquial style:
But Cokorda Pemecutan flew into a rage and instead of taking the peaceful approach, he pulled out a sword hanging on the wall and used it against his stepbrother.
The 74-centimeter-long weapon apparently sliced through Paranacita’s digestive system, leading to his unfortunate demise during transport to the hospital.
Upon the arrival of the police at the scene, Cokorda Pemecutan was promptly taken into custody. However, it took a full decade for him to be formally convicted of murder.
As an unwavering devotee, I can tell you that for approximately three long months, I found myself confined within the cold walls of a detention center. Yet, even in such trying times, my passion remained undiminished. Eventually, just before the New Year of 2005, I was granted a semblance of freedom through house arrest – a reprieve that allowed me to continue my dedication from the comfort of home.
I tell you, my heart raced like a wild stallion on the open plains as I awaited the verdict for Cokorda Pemecutan. But alas, legal intricacies and bureaucratic delays kept me on tenterhooks until the 27th of November, 2013. The day his final sentencing was handed down. Time seemed to stand still as I devoured every word, my heart swelling with anticipation and unwavering admiration for this extraordinary figure.

The individual was convicted for manslaughter through assault and received a prison sentence of three years at Kerobokan, a well-known penitentiary where Schapelle Corby served her nine-year term.
However, Cokorda Pemecutan completed just a single year of his prison term because he had already been held in custody and under house arrest since 2003, following the assassination of his stepbrother.
In simpler terms, the final ruler of Denpasar was mandated to cover a court expense amounting to approximately 2,500 Indonesian rupiahs, which at present has less value compared to an Australian dollar.
Following his conviction in 2013, Cokorda Pemecutan did not enter prison until the year 2014, and he was freed on the morning of May 11th, 2015.
Six years after his life, Cokorda Pemecutan was esteemed as a spiritual guide and champion for religious harmony upon his demise.
The lengthy funeral ceremony honoring him, which took place during the initial week of January 2022, lasted for six consecutive days and was attended by both admirers and family members to celebrate his life.
Lindy might not have been present at the cremation ceremony, since she wasn’t brought up as a part of the royal family, being Cokorda Pemecutan’s niece.
In their early days, three-year-old Lindy, together with her mom, Frances Parker, relocated to Tasmania after a divorce between Lindy’s parents.
She grew up without any connection to her father, instead, her maternal grandfather Des and stepfather Mike served as significant male figures in her life.
In 2006, Anak Agung Oka Rama, her father, passed away due to heart-related issues, not long after the birth of their eldest child, Stella, a daughter.
Four years on, Lindy and her spouse Michael Klim decided to settle permanently in Bali, bringing along their kids Rocco (aged 16) and Frankie (aged 13).
In my journey as a lifestyle enthusiast, I reveled in opulence for a remarkable fifteen years, parting ways with Michael in 2016. Subsequently, I welcomed my youngest bundle of joy, Goldie, into the world, sharing this beautiful experience with my second cherished partner, Adam.
But after her recent return to Australia, she left everything behind for a fresh start following her second divorce, down under.
Last Tuesday, it was revealed that she, along with her daughter Stella, will feature in the upcoming season of The Amazing Race Australia.
