Inmates to Watch: John Ibrahim’s Last King of the Cross Series Moves to Channel 10
The last installment of “The Last King of Kings Cross,” a TV show inspired by John Ibrahim’s 2017 autobiography, is currently unfolding in Sydney.
Last Friday, Sydney Confidential disclosed that Ibrahim, aged 54, is holed up with a group of writers, completing the final 10-episode segment of the intense drama series.
Lincoln Younes will carry on playing the character of Ibrahim, as he evolves from a nightclub owner in Kings Cross and Oxford Street, into a legitimate multi-millionaire businessman.
In the upcoming third season, the narrative will focus on the 2009 shooting incident involving Fadhi, Ibrahim’s younger brother. On that fateful day, Fadhi was shot multiple times – four in his stomach and twice in his arms and shoulders – by a masked assailant who approached Ibrahim’s Lamborghini, parked outside his Castle Cove mansion. The victim was 51 years old at the time of the incident.
In spite of accusations that the motive was a so-called “plot for revenge” against the older Ibrahim brothers John and Sam, no one has ever been officially indicted.
As a diehard fan, I can hardly contain my excitement! The critically acclaimed Paramount+ series, which has even earned Logie nominations, is making its way onto Channel 10, and that’s fantastic news! For the very first time, inmates in New South Wales will have the opportunity to watch it, giving them a glimpse into a world outside their prison walls. I can hardly wait to share this captivating show with even more viewers!

The initial series commences in 1987, and Paramount marketed it as the tale of: ‘John Ibrahim, a wide-eyed youngster who secretly tags along after his older brother and role model, Sam, into the most alluring red-light district in the Southern Hemisphere.’
Originally known as a powerful biker leader, extortionist, and notorious figure in the Kings Cross district, Sam Ibrahim now resides in relative isolation with his unwell mother in Sydney’s outskirts, having managed to avoid being sent back to Lebanon.
In the popular show, Sam critically labeled his character as a ruthless biker involved in drugs, battling with the ascension of his younger sibling’s influence.
After the premiere in 2023, Sam criticized Claude Jabbour’s depiction of him on screen, calling it “terrible,” and went so far as to threaten legal action by trying to prevent a second season using a court order.
In an interview with the Sunday Telegraph following its 2023 release, Sam voiced his disapproval of Claude Jabbour’s portrayal on screen, describing it as “rubbish,” and hinted at taking legal action by stating he would try to prevent a second season through a court injunction.
He remarked, ‘I’m not claiming to be perfect; I’ve faced some accusations throughout my life. However, I’ve never been accused or convicted of murder. On the TV show, I play a character who shoots people and pushes someone out of a window, but in reality, I’ve never done such acts.’
In the popular TV show, the character portrayed is a former gun trafficker, shown as both a ruthless murderer and a bike gang member addicted to drugs. His storyline revolves around his internal conflict as he grapples with his younger brother John’s increasing influence.
As a die-hard fan, it pains me to say, but they’ve portrayed my character in a life that’s far from mine – involving drug use and unsavory associations with individuals of the nightlife. Let me clarify, I was no stranger to enjoying a good time. However, I never lived as wildly as my on-screen persona suggests.
In the heart of Sydney’s vibrant nightlife scene, these two individuals held significant positions. The show delved into pivotal moments in their lives, such as John’s close brush with death due to a stabbing, as well as other instances where his life was threatened.

Ibrahim holds the position of executive producer for this project. Photos of him were taken on set, which was located in a car park in western Sydney, about 35 kilometers away from the real Cross. Remarkably, they rebuilt some of the most recognizable landmarks from the Golden Mile’s area at this location.
As of now, no official announcement about the casting of Sarah Budge, John’s girlfriend who was acquitted of a gun-possession charge during a high-profile Sydney trial in 2019, has been made yet.
Since 2015, John has been in a relationship with Sarah, who runs a restaurant in the Potts Point building he purchased. They first crossed paths that year.
Born in Lebanon, this entrepreneur moved with his family from Tripoli to Australia when he was still young. At the age of 19, he managed to open his first nightclub.
In the second season, Dave Hoey took on the role of the younger brother, Michael Ibrahim, while the character Fadi was portrayed by the novice actor, Alex Kaan, in his debut TV appearance.
Similarly, Tess Haubrich as Detective Liz Doyle, Uli Latukefu as Big Tony, Tongan Sam, and Janet Anderson as Simone are all set to return to their respective roles.
