Influencer Gets Cancer Diagnosis After Daughter Died Tragically
Social media personality Sidney Raz disclosed that he has recently received a cancer diagnosis – following the heartbreaking event where his wife, Kelsey, lost their baby at 26 weeks of pregnancy.
In a heartfelt disclosure, the 31-year-old video maker famous for his Life Hacks posts on social platforms, revealed that his baby girl was stillborn in September.
In my case, I was born with a genetic disorder known as holoprosencephaly, which prevented the normal development of my brain into two separate hemispheres.
To determine if her parents had any genetic anomalies potentially affecting the pregnancy, genetic analysis was conducted using her DNA samples.
In their investigation, they couldn’t definitively determine the source of their daughter’s health issue. However, during the same examination, it was found that Raz had stomach cancer, a condition diagnosed years ahead of its typical detection time.
He shared that his daughter’s DNA was the key to saving his life, and he’s informed his followers that he plans to undergo surgery to remove his stomach.
In a video posted on March 29th, Raz expressed, ‘I’m hesitant about sharing this, yet I will, and I’ll accept whatever reaction comes my way.’
In September, we tragically lost our unborn child due to holoprosencephaly. At that time, my wife was carrying our baby. Holoprosencephaly is a condition where the baby doesn’t develop a proper brain. He put it simply.
They underwent genetic testing, revealing that their daughter possessed a deletion that Raz’s wife didn’t share, yet this same deletion was present in him.
He mentioned that due to this deletion, there’s been an observed link with specific types of cancer, particularly stomach cancer, in more recent times.
One week after Raz had an endoscopy, he was informed that he had stomach cancer – a shocking revelation made only three hours before he shared the news with his followers online.
He admitted that he can’t quite explain why, but there seems to be a strong urge within him to share something online. He believes it might be due to his affection for the online community and all the positive experiences he’s had while being connected to the internet.
Raz mentioned: ‘However, I’d also like to comfort myself by thinking this might be the best possible outcome. In the endoscopy, out of 36 samples taken, just one indicated cancer. Essentially, we found it extremely early.’
Not long after, he announced on TikTok that he was scheduled for a total stomach removal surgery, which was set for April 18th.

He stated, ‘Feel free to continue with that and move on from there, it seems.’ When asked about whether it would be a partial or complete removal, he replied emphatically, ‘Complete. Completely removing the stomach, no more of it.’
He emphasized that his physician had told him that if he hadn’t detected the condition earlier, he would likely have returned in three years with either stage III or stage IV cancer, which could potentially mean losing his stomach. However, he expressed optimism, stating that he expected to be around for another three to four years.
As a devoted follower sharing some personal insights, I’d like to express that in an unexpected turn of events, it wasn’t any symptoms I experienced but rather the DNA of my precious daughter that played a crucial role in saving my life. Now, we have a promising way forward.
In another video, Raz discussed how following surgery, food would journey straight from his esophagus to his small intestines, bypassing his stomach, which no longer functions as a resting place in the middle.
After this change, he’ll continue to consume food, but he’ll need to chew thoroughly and learn new eating habits since he won’t be able to eat as much as before due to the adjustments. It’s a significant transformation, but he’s determined to overcome cancer.
