A Gold Coast social media personality is facing backlash after posting a video of her young daughter twerking. The video has sparked outrage online.
Kat Clark and her family—her husband Jonathan and their teenage daughter Deja—moved to the United States last year. She received criticism on Saturday for a video she posted on Instagram.
In a video clip, the 39-year-old TikTok personality asked her teenage daughter to dance, which led to the daughter playfully twerking for the camera.
Once Deja finished dancing, Kat acted like there had been a mix-up, and quickly said, ‘I was talking about your hair.’
Deja removed her hat and turned around, shaking her curly hair loose instead.
Lots of fans expressed their enthusiasm for the mother and daughter, with many saying they loved Deja and encouraging her to succeed.
Some people felt it wasn’t right for Deja to be dancing that way online, arguing she was too young.
‘Umm she’s 15 yo!’ one person wrote, while another added: ‘She’s a kid.’
‘Underage btw [and your] daughter,’ a third added.
Someone commented that a mother was encouraging her fifteen-year-old daughter to post provocative content online for views.
‘WOW! And people encouraging it even. These comments are gross.’
Daily Mail has reached out to Kat for comment.
Kat recently faced criticism in June 2025 after she voiced complaints about living in Los Angeles while the city was filled with protests against ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement).
After four days of unrest in California, Marines and the National Guard were deployed to help control protesters and restore order.
Where should parents draw the line on what their teens share online for views or laughs?
What’s your view?
Despite all the surrounding drama, Kat seemed unaware and continued to post a video blog about the small annoyances she faced in Los Angeles.
Even though Australians and Americans both speak English, it’s clear we have very different lifestyles. ‘I have to ask,’ she started, ‘why is it so hard to find a decent cup of coffee in Los Angeles?’
She emphasized their strong commitment to security, pointing to video of stores protected by security gates.
Kat then went on to complain about people not using towels at the gym.
I’ve only picked up on a few things since I arrived, but there’s much more to tell,” she said, continuing her story.
I was with Kat at Ralphs, and she was telling me about this family’s serious ranch obsession. Seriously, they have so much of it! And get this – tuna flavored bacon ranch! She said it out loud and we both agreed, it just sounds… well, not good.
To be honest, this place has some real issues, but it also gets a lot of things right.
People rushed to the comments section to criticize Kat for seemingly overlooking the unrest and military deployment in Los Angeles.
Someone asked if she hadn’t seen the news, and another person commented that she seemed unaware of the current events in Los Angeles.
Kat responded to the comments, explaining she was aware of what had been happening in the city.
‘I hear you and I’ve been following everything closely,’ she said.
Because I’m here on a visa, I need to be careful about expressing my opinions. However, I want you to know that I’m paying attention, trying to understand, and offering support in any way I can.
