IndyCar: Romain Grosjean replaced by former team after just one year

As a seasoned IndyCar fan with years of watching races under my belt, I must say that the 2025 lineup changes have got me all revved up! The shake-up at Juncos Hollinger Racing, with Conor Daly stepping into a full-time role and Romain Grosjean left without a ride, adds an exciting twist to the upcoming season.

At the end of the 2024 IndyCar season, Conor Daly raced for Juncos Hollinger Racing in the last five events. He piloted the No. 78 Chevrolet, which had been driven by Agustin Canapino on a full-time basis earlier. Notably, he secured the team’s first podium finish at Milwaukee Mile and another top 10 position at Nashville Superspeedway, demonstrating exceptional performance.

For the upcoming 2025 racing season, Daly has been officially announced as the team’s second permanent driver. Previously, Sting Ray Robb from A.J. Foyt Enterprises was named their first driver last month, thereby completing the roster. Unfortunately, this leaves Romain Grosjean without a seat for the upcoming season.

2024 was the only season Grosjean played for the team. During this time, he achieved six top-10 results, culminating in a 17th place overall in the championship. His best performance was a fourth place at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca. Notably, prior to his arrival, the team had managed just five top-10 finishes across two full seasons in the series.

Romain Grosjean out at Juncos Hollinger Racing

As a gamer, I’m keeping an eye on the 2025 racing season; only two full-time spots remain unfilled at Dale Coyne Racing, a team notorious for being the last one to finalize their driver lineup most seasons.

As a devoted racing enthusiast, I can’t help but feel excited about the rumors swirling around some highly anticipated newcomers. It seems that former Ed Carpenter Racing race champion Rinus VeeKay and the promising rookie Linus Lundqvist from Chip Ganassi Racing are in the running for some coveted seats!

Despite competing part-time, Grosjean cannot be overlooked. In his debut season in 2021 for Dale Coyne’s team, he nearly snatched the Rookie of the Year title from Scott McLaughlin of Team Penske, despite missing three races. Notably, he finished second twice at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course that year.

Following Grosjean’s exit from Andretti Autosport at the end of the 2023 season, Dale Coyne Racing was initially seen as a likely destination for him. Now, if he intends to stay in the series, Dale Coyne Racing appears to be his only viable option as a potential team.

2025’s IndyCar racing season kicks off on March 2nd in St. Petersburg, Florida, with the action taking place on its city streets. Coverage will be broadcast live by Fox, beginning at 12:00 p.m. Eastern Time.
