IndyCar: Milwaukee Mile race not being shown on NBC

As a seasoned gamer who’s been through countless virtual races and real-life ones alike, I must say that the return of IndyCar to the Milwaukee Mile after more than nine years is nothing short of exhilarating! The thrill of watching Pato O’Ward take the checkered flag in yesterday’s race was just the beginning.

In recent times, it wouldn’t have crossed many minds that an IndyCar race would be held again at the Milwaukee Mile. However, it reappeared on the schedule in 2011, only to disappear once more from the calendar after its July 2015 event.

Yesterday evening, the latest race held at the 1.015-mile (1.633-kilometer) four-corner oval in West Allis, Wisconsin occurred. IndyCar returned to this historic track for the first time in over nine years. It was Arrow McLaren’s Pato O’Ward who crossed the finish line victorious.

Yesterday’s 250-lap car race was broadcast only on Peacock, marking it as the second event this year to air exclusively on that platform. The first exclusive event was the race held on the streets of Toronto, Ontario on July 21.

Today’s 250-lap race will be broadcast on Peacock as well, but it won’t be exclusive to that platform. Importantly, the race isn’t airing live on NBC either, marking the sixth consecutive race since the doubleheader at Iowa Speedway on July 14 that hasn’t been shown live on the network.

For 10 out of the 18 events (9 out of the 17 point-scoring events) in the schedule, NBC is accountable. However, this Sunday’s event marks the fifth consecutive race that won’t be broadcasted by NBC.

Second Milwaukee IndyCar race not being shown on NBC

As a racing enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share that the second race of the Hy-Vee Milwaukee Mile 250 is all set to air on USA Network. Interestingly, the last two races on this network during this five-race span that aren’t on NBC took place. The first one was held on Saturday, August 17 at World Wide Technology Raceway at Gateway, while the second one unfolded at Portland International Raceway on Sunday, August 25.

A full starting lineup can be found here.

This coming Sunday marks the second-to-last race of the season and it serves as the last event in USA Network’s broadcast schedule for six races. The final race of the season, which will air live on NBC, takes place at Nashville Superspeedway on September 15. Notably, this track hasn’t hosted an IndyCar race since 2008.

Originally, the four-turn, 1.333-mile (2.145-kilometer) oval in Lebanon, Tennessee wasn’t planned for the racing schedule this year, unlike the Milwaukee Mile.

The location was chosen because of the ongoing construction at the freshly built Tennessee Titans’ NFL stadium in downtown Nashville. Unfortunately, IndyCar had to abandon their plan to race on a revamped temporary city street circuit, which they added to their schedule in 2021.

Listen to USA Network at 2:30 PM Eastern Time this coming Sunday, September 1st. That’s when they will be airing the live coverage of the second race of the Hy-Vee Milwaukee Mile 250 from the Milwaukee Mile. If you haven’t signed up for a free trial of FuboTV yet, now would be a great time to do so! Don’t miss out on this exciting event.
