IndyCar announces late Iowa broadcast change after Trump shooting

As a dedicated IndyCar fan, I was looking forward to watching Saturday night’s Hy-Vee Homefront 250 presented by Instacart at Iowa Speedway live on NBC. But alas, life sometimes throws us unexpected curveballs. Due to NBC’s special report following the shooting at a rally for former President Donald Trump in Butler, Pennsylvania, the race start was moved to CNBC instead. Although I was initially disappointed, I understood that such unforeseen events are beyond anyone’s control.

As a devoted gamer and NASCAR enthusiast, I was eagerly anticipating the Hy-Vee Homefront 250 presented by Instacart at Iowa Speedway, which was scheduled for a live broadcast on NBC starting at 8:00 p.m. ET on Saturday night.

As a gamer, I was looking forward to watching the start of the race on NBC following the special report about the shooting at a rally for former President Trump in Butler, Pennsylvania. However, I’ve just learned that NBC won’t be showing it after all, and instead, we’ll be tuning into CNBC for the live coverage. Don’t worry, though, as the event will still be available on Peacock as previously announced.

As a dedicated IndyCar gamer, I’m eagerly anticipating the upcoming race – the one that marks the 10th of 17 points-scoring events on this year’s schedule. The excitement is building as we approach the start line, which is set to ignite shortly after 8:00 p.m. ET. Let’s buckle up and get ready for an unforgettable ride!

Iowa IndyCar start moves from NBC to CNBC

The Hy-Vee Homefront 250 is set to be a 250-lap racing event taking place at the Newton, Iowa oval, which spans four turns and measures 0.894 miles or 1.438 kilometers in length. Kick-starting the Hy-Vee Doubleheader Weekend, this race will be preceded by tomorrow’s afternoon 250-lap Hy-Vee One Step 250 presented by Gatorade.

At tonight’s race, Colton Herta from Andretti Global claimed the top spot on the starting grid. Conversely, Scott McLaughlin of Team Penske secured the pole position for tomorrow’s event.

Here, you’ll find the complete rosters for both races. Last year, Team Penske dominated the doubleheader with Josef Newgarden taking the checkered flag in both events, following teammate Will Power who secured the pole position for both races.

The race is predicted to shift to NBC eventually tonight, but the present circumstances haven’t provided clarity on this point yet. If the ongoing coverage of the chaotic situation in Butler prevents the race from being transferred to its originally intended channel, then CNBC will broadcast the entire event instead.

Due to a rain interruption in the NASCAR Cup Series event at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, CNBC broadcasted the IndyCar race at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca instead of USA Network as originally planned. Both races had been scheduled for television transmission on that network.

Tomorrow’s race is still set to be broadcast live on NBC beginning at 12:00 p.m. ET.
