As a long-time racing enthusiast with memories of the Milwaukee Mile etched deep into my heart, it’s nothing short of exhilarating to see IndyCar returning to this iconic venue after a six-year hiatus. The prospect of two races at the historic West Allis track is like a dream come true for me!
Previously, the notion of IndyCar returning to the Milwaukee Mile might have been met with derision and dismissed entirely. However, today, the series is indeed preparing for not just one but two races at this historic West Allis, Wisconsin track, a venue it last visited in 2015.
This weekend, two races will take place at the Wisconsin State Fair Park’s four-turn, 1.015-mile (1.633-kilometer) track. The conventional method for determining starting positions, which involves each driver making a two-lap run by themselves, is planned to be used.
In the initial race of the Hy-Vee Milwaukee Mile, the speeds achieved during the first lap will establish the starting order. Similarly, the starting order for the subsequent race will be determined by the speeds attained during the second lap. Both races are planned to span 250 laps each.
Four drivers who raced at the track a decade ago will take part in this weekend’s IndyCar event. Interestingly, last year’s champion Sebastien Bourdais won’t be among them, but the 2014 winner, Will Power, is participating. The other three contenders are Graham Rahal, Josef Newgarden, and Scott Dixon.

Reminder: Josef Newgarden, Nolan Siegel, Marcus Armstrong, Pietro Fittipaldi and Christian Lundgaard will each face a grid penalty of nine positions for the initial race. However, these penalties are not shown in this starting lineup.
Check back for a full starting lineup.
