Indy 500: 33rd car confirmed as two seats still don't have drivers

Andretti Global has consistently expressed their intention to field an extra Indy 500 one-off entry for the year 2025, despite the recent changes in their ownership structure.

Marco Andretti, who retired from full-time IndyCar racing following the 2020 season, will be back behind the wheel of the No. 98 Honda for another one-off entry during May this year.

As a gamer, I’m eagerly watching the lineup for the 109th edition of the “Greatest Spectacle in Racing” at the Speedway, Indiana oval. With Andretti Global already planning to join the race, we’ve got 33 cars on the list so far. If more drivers decide to jump in, it’ll mean a third straight Bump Day for us. Exciting times ahead!

Essentially, we can say that Bump Day will probably occur in the year 2025. This implies that no team member can feel completely secure. The revised contract ensures that chartered teams have a place in every NTT IndyCar Series event, with the exception of the Indianapolis 500.

For the 2025 IndyCar season, there will be a total of 27 permanent racing positions, with 25 of those being chartered cars. Prema Racing is the sole full-time team that does not have a charter. As for Dale Coyne Racing’s two chartered vehicles, they currently lack confirmed drivers.

Excitedly speaking, with Andretti confirming their driver, it means that each of the six part-time/Indy 500-only entries now boasts a confirmed driver in the cockpit as well.

Let’s first take a look at the 25 charter entries (plus Prema Racing’s two cars).
