Industry viewers SPEECHLESS at gut-wrenching season 3 plot twist after steamy sex scene – as Kit Harington’s debut leaves fans blushing
As a longtime fan of gripping dramas and a connoisseur of character arcs that leave me breathless, I must say that the latest development in Industry has truly caught my attention. The unexpected and tragic demise of Nicole, played by Marisa Abela, has set the stage for an intriguing exploration of ambition, mortality, and trauma that I can’t help but be drawn to.
On Sunday evening, the finance-focused drama series Industry from HBO began its third season, featuring Kit Harington joining the tumult of Pierpoint & Co. The premiere left viewers stunned with a sudden, unforeseen demise.
I can hardly contain my excitement as our favorite stars, Marisa Abela, Ken Leung, and Myha’la Herrold, return once more to steer this thrilling series! It wasn’t long before their captivating performances left me utterly spellbound.
The shocking incident occurred halfway through the show, as Robert Spearing, portrayed by Harry Lawtey, had a tryst with his manipulative client Nicole Craig (played by Sarah Parish), on her grand kitchen island. However, he discovered her lifeless body the next morning.
Afterward, they both donned identical pajamas and headed out to recline on sun loungers in the yard for a chat. Or, after that, they slipped into matching nightwear and relaxed on sunbeds in the garden to converse.
‘Why do you stay after you f**k me?’ Nicole asked.
“Here it seems we were being intimate,” Robert chuckled skeptically, then murmured, “I can’t help but wonder why I’m still around.”
‘You desire me,’ Nicole said. ‘We get each other off. You’re you with me.’
The next day, Robert was roused by the heavy rainfall outside. Upon stirring, he noticed Nicole, her unblinking eyes gazing lifelessly beside him.
Startled, he hastily moved her unconscious form off the lounger, causing her to tumble down onto the floor below.
Taking to social media, fans shared their disbelief over Nicole’s death.
On Reddit, one said: ‘I audibly gasped about Nicole.’
“First, I was greatly surprised, and second agreed. Thirdly, they expressed similar shock, saying they certainly hadn’t anticipated it! They even let out a laugh as they gasped in astonishment.”
Over on X, a fourth exclaimed: ‘OH MY GOD HE WOKE UP NEXT TO A DEAD BODY.’
Afterward, they appended: “‘What transpired during the 911 call?” he said. “I had sexual relations with an elderly woman, we cuddled afterwards, and when I awoke, she was no longer alive.”
Industry creators Mickey Down and Konrad Kay confirmed that Nicole died following a cardiac arrest.
In episode one, Mickey clarified the reasons for writing out a character by saying: ‘Well, let me shed some light on this. There were multiple factors at play.’
It adds intrigue and excitement to the narrative when a significant event occurs for a character who has been extensively developed in the initial episode.
However, it significantly advanced a crucial storyline for the season, namely Robert’s exploration of death, mortality, his aspirations, and the apparent demise of those close to him.
As a lifestyle expert, I’d rephrase this sentiment as follows:
In the following episodes, this topic is delved into more extensively, yet it seemed ideal as a starting point for him.
In conversation with IndieWire, Konrad mentioned that even though they filmed sequences where Sarah’s eyes were shut, the final cut featured a scene with her eyes open widely to create an impactful effect.
He stated that the intention was indeed to create a striking impact, but not out of callousness. What they aimed for was an immediate response from the audience such as, “Wow, I can’t believe they did that!” They also wanted the scene to evoke a strong physical reaction when the character pushed her away.
In another setting, actor Kit Harrington, known for his role in Game of Thrones, first appeared as Sir Henry Muck, the pioneer and head of eco-friendly technology firm Lumi, and a fresh client at Pierpoint & Co.
Kit previously described his character as a ‘posh idiot’ during an appearance on CBS Mornings.
“He’s been supported by a safety cushion all along, so he doesn’t have to worry about consequences – he can essentially express himself freely, but that’s not necessarily a good thing,” he joked.
Audience members found themselves feeling quite flustered as Sir Henry engaged in a bare-chested game of handball with his uncles, stripping down to nothing but his athletic build.
Expressing excitement, one repeated repeatedly: “Look at Kit Harington without a shirt on! Look at Kit Harington without a shirt on!”
Another said: ‘Kit Harington is on #IndustryHBO this season, finally some eye candy.’
‘Kit Harington is looking great…,’pointed out a third.
Speaking about his enthusiasm to be part of the industry, the self-proclaimed enthusiast earlier mentioned, “It seemed different from anything I had ever encountered.”
“The writing is exceptional, the characters are well-developed, the setting, the soundtrack… I found myself utterly captivated.”
