Industry star on Kit Harington “bromance” after he asked to join cast
As a gamer with a penchant for binge-watching TV shows that delve into the intricacies of power dynamics and human drama, I was absolutely thrilled to hear about the third season of Industry. The addition of Kit Harington to the cast as Henry Muck, a tech CEO with deep connections in Britain’s political and media circles, promises to add another layer of complexity to this already captivating series.
Harry Lawtey, a prominent figure in the industry, opened up about the friendship he developed both on set and off with his latest costar, Kit Harington, who enters season three of the BBC’s financial success as Henry Muck, a tech tycoon whose name seems to predict his role.
The actor from “Game of Thrones” was an admirer of the series, reaching out to writers Mickey Down and Konrad Kay offering his assistance in their stock exchange, or more casually: The GoT star loved the show so much that he reached out to writers Mickey Down and Konrad Kay to offer help on the trading floor.
Prior to the launch of the third season on iPlayer this month, Lawtey had a conversation with Digital Spy about receiving the endorsement from Harington.
It was fantastic to have Kit with us, and even more so because it was his own choice to join, which really boosted our confidence and confirmed our decision as a team.
Throughout our time together, it seemed we developed something akin to a deep friendship, both in front of and behind the camera. He is an exceptionally talented individual, always approachable with a lighthearted and gracious demeanor.
He has a lighthearted approach to himself yet maintains a deep commitment and meticulousness towards his work. Reflecting on the course of my professional journey, I find collaborating with him just as effortless as working with any other memorable colleague.
Things seemed to fit together effortlessly, and it felt as if we had an immediate connection and compatibility since the beginning.
Harington portrays a CEO named Henry, who leads an environmentally conscious startup. This individual boasts strong ties with influential figures in both the British media and political spheres.
As Rob Spearing, coming from a working-class background, is dispatched by Pierpoint to aid Lawtey in making Muck’s company public, frictions start arising due to class differences.
The conflict between Henry and Rob reaches its peak in the initial stages of the eight-episode series, as they engage in a physical altercation in an unexpected location – a ball pit. Lawtey mentioned that this scene was filmed on their second day working together, and it also featured a brief appearance by co-creator Mickey Down’s daughter.
“We were just scrambling around in that playpen,” he said. “It was very bizarre, but really funny.
Indeed, the situation appears quite absurd at first glance. Two individuals, seemingly lacking maturity, are engaging in a dispute reminiscent of a toddler’s play area. However, we can only speculate that there might be deeper, more substantial reasons behind their actions.
“It was unexpected to shoot this particular scene immediately following the heated argument, as it came right after a deep conflict that significantly reflects the show’s exploration of the complexities surrounding environmental CEOs and the question of whether their actions are truly sustainable.
It calls their honesty into question, the two of them. Subsequently, we find ourselves playfully tumbling around in a giant inflatable ball pool.
It was just as strange as I anticipated given the nature of this series, and turning the page always leaves me in suspense. Today was particularly unusual, and it’s an experience I won’t forget.
Industry returns to BBC One and iPlayer on October 1.
