In Just 1 Week, Prime Video’s Anti-War The Tank Officially Defeated Ridley Scott’s Crime Thriller Trap House

The new war film is quickly becoming a hit on streaming services. It’s already become the most-watched movie on the platform, surpassing even Ridley Scott’s newest release, just one week after it premiered.

I was really excited when The Tank dropped on Prime Video on January 2nd, and I’m so glad it’s getting some recognition! It didn’t have a huge marketing push, but it’s already doing better than Ridley Scott’s Trap House just one week after release, according to FlixPatrol. It’s a fantastic anti-war thriller and deserves all the attention!

The movie opened in fourth place worldwide on January 3rd. That same day, Trap House was the top performer, with this new release coming in behind it. By January 4th, The Tank had moved into second place, surpassing both Red One and Jason Statham’s A Working Man, which dropped to third.

As of January 9th, the movie The Tank reached the number one spot on Prime Video worldwide, becoming the most-watched film in 17 countries. The film’s story, a war thriller, highlights that achieving one victory doesn’t guarantee overall success. Although The Tank has now climbed to the top globally, it lost its leading position in the United States.

While The Tank is getting some attention on Prime Video, critics haven’t been very impressed so far. It doesn’t have a critic score on Rotten Tomatoes, but viewers seem to like it a bit more, giving it a 62% rating – up from 57% when it first launched.

The war thriller, The Tank, premiered in its country of origin on September 18, 2025, but wasn’t released internationally. Set on the Eastern Front during World War II in 1943, the film centers on a tank crew carrying out a secret mission behind enemy lines.

Trap House Has Been Dominating the Global Charts

Ridley Scott is a highly respected director known for his award-winning films. Beyond directing, he’s also a successful producer, and his most recent project in that role is the film Trap House.

The action movie Trap House came out in cinemas on November 14, 2025, and became available on Prime Video on December 31, 2025, but only outside of the United States. It quickly became popular, reaching the number one spot in over 20 countries every day after its release. However, after being the top film for over a week, it was overtaken by The Tank.

I was completely hooked by this crime thriller! It’s set in El Paso, Texas, and centers around a DEA agent and his partner who find themselves in an unbelievable situation. Their own teenage kids are essentially playing them at their own game – using everything they’ve learned from their parents to rob a really dangerous cartel. It’s a wild cat-and-mouse chase, but with a family twist!

Dave Bautista leads the cast of Trap House, playing the character Ray Seale. The film also features Jack Champion, Sophia Lillis, Kate del Castillo, Tony Dalton, Whitney Peak, and Bobby Cannavale. Michael Dowse directed the movie, which was written by Gary Scott Thompson and Tom O’Connor.

While the thrilling stunts, action, and high stakes make Trap House worth seeing, it’s the actors who truly elevate the film, with Dave Bautista delivering a particularly strong performance and a solid supporting cast. However, Trap House hasn’t resonated with everyone. Critics on Rotten Tomatoes gave it a 55% rating, and audiences rated it even lower at 49%.
