I’m Loving Dexter Resurrection’s New Storyline, But Have One Killer Concern After Episode 4’s Big Exit
As a movie connoisseur, I must caution you: The insights shared below may unveil secrets from the gripping episode “Call Me Red” of the series Dexter: Resurrection. To avoid spoilers ruining the suspense, stream this episode using your subscription on Paramount+. However, if you’re willing to take the risk, feel free to keep reading!
In the latest installment of “Dexter: Resurrection,” one of my preferred storylines for the series was unveiled, bringing together an exceptional ensemble cast under the leadership of Michael C. Hall. The newcomer, Peter Dinklage, graced our screens as billionaire philanthropist Leon Prater, who confided in “Dexter” (Red) that he secretly manages a club for serial killers to collaborate and exchange their hidden, sinister knowledge.
In the narrative, Neil Patrick Harris, Krysten Ritter, Eric Stonestreet, and David Dastmalchian appear as infamous serial killers, summoned by Prater for unknown purposes that leave us, the viewers, puzzled, except perhaps to satisfy his bloodthirst. On one side, I’m thrilled because this plotline seems ripe for exploration in numerous intriguing ways. However, on the other hand, apprehension arises as one of these prominent guest stars has already met an untimely demise.
The Potential For Dexter: Resurrection’s Killer Club Storyline Has Me Thrilled
In the world of Dexter, the storyline has been expanding concurrently through prequels and sequels, much like how the John Wick series is branching out in multiple timelines. I believe this franchise could soon develop in a similar complex, multi-timeline manner. We now have an ensemble cast of charming yet extremely dangerous killers to interact with following Red’s death. Although Dexter usually doesn’t see eye-to-eye with most criminals, it appears that there might be at least one who operates by a set of principles that Dexter can tolerate.
Contemplate this scenario: Could it be that by the end of this season, Dexter decides to either recruit or mentor other serial killers within this corrupt community, sharing with them Harry’s “code.” This might result in a perverse take on the Avengers, driven by their shared Dark Passenger. It’s an intriguing concept, not entirely implausible given that Leon Prater doesn’t appear to be a serial killer himself. Would he object to Dexter instructing this group or even other misguided killers in his unique form of justice? (Alternatively, perhaps he would tolerate it with similar groups.)
It appears that most of Dex’s coworkers likely have their own idiosyncrasies leading them to desire violence, and they probably won’t require further instruction. The main character is seeking justice, while figures like Lowell are primarily interested in confiscating others’ tattoos for personal viewing. Mia Lapierre, however, could potentially be shaped into an ally, if Dexter ever discloses his true identity as the Bay Harbor Butcher to her.
Another possibility is that Dexter might find himself tracking down these serial killers, leading to an extended storyline spanning multiple seasons of the show. Given that he’s previously dealt with some truly vile individuals, it would be intriguing to watch him systematically eliminate each member of Prater’s exclusive club, all while managing to stay under the radar of his benefactor.

Lowell’s Early Exit Has Me Concerned This Story Is Moving Way Too Fast
It appears that Dexter Resurrection might not maintain its vibrant roster of killers for an extended period. The series killed off Neil Patrick Harris’ character Lowell before the end of the episode, and since this new storyline was unveiled, it seems likely that other recently introduced actors such as Eric Stonestreet and Krysten Ritter, who have been well-received by fans, won’t stick around for much longer.
More On Dexter: Resurrection

I Like Dexter: Resurrection, But Am I The Only One Who Thinks It Has The Wrong Main Character?
I’m really disappointed since I’d absolutely love a season focusing entirely on Eric Stonestreet’s character’s ponytail-wearing killer and his pursuit of the family life that Dexter envisioned with Rita. Additionally, I’m completely invested in the enigmatic storyline surrounding David Dastmalchian’s character, who seems to be the most mysterious of all the killers.
It remains uncertain what the future plot for “Dexter: Resurrection” will entail, given that Dexter has breached the rules of the serial killer community. It could be that their encounter was a singular event, and from now on, it’s Prater versus Dexter, with Prater potentially targeting other killers at a later time.
There’s another aspect of Dexter’s character that yearns for companionship with other killers, a community to converse with. This could serve as a powerful reminder of his inherently evil nature, a detail that both “New Blood” and “Resurrection” have subtly hinted at thus far.
