I’m Happy Being Curvy

Television host Hayley McQueen shared that she embraces her curvaceous figure, serving as an inspiration for women and young girls alike.

The television sports presenter candidly discussed her physique while criticizing the unrealistic ideals of beauty often portrayed within the media.

Her remarks were made during a conversation she had with co-host Kelly Cates, along with Christine Lampard from ITV, on their ‘Not Just Football’ broadcast.

In this extensive conversation, we were joined by dietitian Ruth Wood, who helped us delve into topics such as wellness, self-assurance, digital platforms, and the recent surge in demand for weight loss injections.

McQueen, aged 45, spoke candidly about her own weight: ‘Growing up in the TV industry means we face more scrutiny. Regardless, we’re all unique shapes and sizes. I’ve personally battled with fluctuations in my weight.’

I’ve never truly followed a diet and I’m content with being a size 12 to 14. Some viewers might think, “She’s not a size six, so it’s acceptable,” but I enjoy being a potential inspiration for others.

‘It’s great to have coworkers who are around sizes six to eight, as they also serve as role models for some of our younger female family members.’

Additionally, she discussed the harmful remarks directed at her physical features on various social platforms, which occasionally left her feeling uneasy in previous instances.

The television personality stated: ‘I’ve always had a more voluptuous build naturally, I’ve never been slim, and have typically leaned towards being athletic. At times, I may have carried a little extra weight compared to some others.’

She mentioned that while she was on-air at Sky, they often wore form-fitting dresses. However, these outfits might not have flattered her body type or made her feel as comfortable, so she found creative ways to conceal herself a bit more.

In addition, she emphasized how her childhood experiences instilled within her a deep appreciation for wellness over physical looks.

Ms. McQueen, the daughter of the former Scottish footballer Gordon McQueen, expressed: ‘I’ve had great fortune to be raised in a nurturing environment that emphasized health. Since my father was a football player, we were always mindful about health, nutrition, and strength.’

In response to recent social media misconduct, her latest remarks followed after Miss McQueen disclosed that she had identified and reported the offenders responsible for cyberbullying to their respective workplaces.

In my own words, she did this: ‘I discovered where one individual was employed, reached out to their workplace, and mailed a letter. Additionally, I printed out the messages they shared on their Instagram account.’

It seems something unusual took place, as I didn’t receive a response. However, the person’s LinkedIn profile disappeared. Initially, I connected with them through LinkedIn and sent a message to their superior. This action helped me find some comfort.
