I’m A Celeb’s Tulisa comes out as demisexual and reveals she’s been celibate for over THREE years – after trauma of her leaked sex tape ‘impacted her relationships to this day’
As I delve deeper into this heart-wrenching tale, it becomes abundantly clear that Tulisa has been through an unimaginable ordeal. The violation of her privacy and the subsequent fallout from the release of the intimate footage was not only life-changing but also a testament to her resilience.
Tulisa shared that she has abstained from intimate relationships for more than three years, and on the latest episode of “I’m A Celebrity,” she identified herself as demisexual.
36-year-old member of N-Dubz confessed that contemplating romance leaves her feeling nauseous, as she candidly talked about her personal relationships with fellow campmates.
At the height of her popularity, Tulisa faced a prominent legal trial following her former boyfriend, Justin Edwards, who they split from in 2009, leaking a private video of her in 2012.
Previously, she expressed that she felt judged, dirty, and ashamed due to the experience, mentioning that it took her a considerable amount of time to accept and move past it.
Tulisa informed her fellow campers that she’s not keen on dating anyone, confessing she tends to be very cautious.
During our chat at camp, Dean McCullough shared that he genuinely appreciates his solitude, finding pleasure in spending time alone.
In a lighter moment, finding myself reminiscing about our shared past experiences, I playfully said to Tulisa, “Haven’t we given every dating app a go, darling?
Tulisa stated, “I’ve merely used the celebrity dating app Raya. I don’t consider myself as someone who dates frequently, although I have been on it. I’ve never actually been out on a date with anyone from there… I’m quite protective.
She added: ‘I feel like I’m demisexual, I need to have a really close emotional bond with someone.’
Demisexuality refers to a sexual orientation in which an individual develops sexual feelings towards another person only after they’ve established a deep emotional bond or relationship.
Dean said: ‘You need meaning babe.’
In her own words, Tulisa shared that she desires genuine depth in relationships. She mentioned that she takes things slowly and has abstained from intimate relationships for more than three years.
I’m generally not overly focused on physical attraction. Instead, for me, it’s about the bond and the emotional feelings I share with someone, which often leads me to want to express those feelings in a more intimate manner.
She humorously expressed her discomfort by saying, “I’d rather view this as my sacred place, off-limits to you!
Alan quipped: ‘It sounds like a Bushtucker Trial where you’ve gotta find a key to Tulisa’s temple!’
During an appearance on Olivia Attwood’s “So Wrong It’s Right” podcast, Tulisa candidly shared the significant impact the released video has had on her personal life.
She said: ‘It felt like virtual rape, that’s the only way I can describe the emotion. It was just horrific. I felt so just judged and I felt disgusting, I felt ashamed.
Reflecting on past experiences, I can’t help but recall a feeling that defies description – it was simply awful, beyond words. Over the course of numerous years, I’ve grappled with accepting and understanding this emotion. Today, however, I view pain as a catalyst for growth in my life.
Essentially, each and every experience I’ve had has been intended for me to feel, and I wouldn’t be the person I am now without these experiences shaping my life.
‘So there is no regret on anything, that is my path. I was meant to live it and I have.’
She added: ‘It’s affected my relationships to this day and intimacy and all those kinds of things – it’s life changing in a big, big way.’
Revenge porn was not illegal at the time, meaning she only managed to get a court apology from him.
Justin released it between her first and second series as a panel judge on the X Factor.
Tulisa said she’d been told her ex-boyfriend got given a house after releasing the tape.
On whether there were any repercussion for him, she continued: ‘No.
Essentially, I initiated a lawsuit against him, but it seemed like he eventually reached a stage where he was unwilling to invest that amount of money.
Since I had funds available at the moment, I found myself in a position where I persistently took legal action against him. Eventually, he extended an apology.
She stated that Justin maintained it wasn’t him who put out the tape and attempted to insinuate that she was involved in its creation.
‘He tried to say that either it was me or I was involved – something crazy like that.’ she said.
‘So he just basically admitted it was him, that was it. But there were no repercussions.’
At the time of her high court win in 2012, revenge porn was not a criminal offence.
Previously, in a comparable situation, Stephen Bear was imprisoned for 21 months this past March, following his act of distributing a private sex video that did not have the approval of his former partner, Georgia Harrison.
Nonetheless, the enactment of the revenge porn law occurred in 2014, which meant that any potential prosecution against Justin for this offense could not be pursued due to its timing.
Regarding the illegality of distributing explicit images, Tulisa stated: “It’s a different story now compared to before. It’s mind-boggling.
In 2012, Tulisa resolved her lawsuit with Justin when he confessed his role in leaking a sex tape online and promised an apology.
The celebrity informed patiently waiting photographers that she was delighted because the truth had been revealed following the release of the private video clips.
And, in her statement, she added: ‘This time, Justin messed with the wrong woman’.
She stated, “I’m grateful it’s all done now. The past few months have been challenging, and this ordeal was never one I desired to experience.
I was led to believe that Justin Edwards’ actions were intended to harm me, enrich himself, and sabotage my career. However, as it turns out, he hasn’t managed to achieve any of those objectives.
Today, I find myself a more robust and knowledgeable young lady, having grown from this encounter and gained valuable insights.
She went on to say: ‘I am appalled by Justin and disheartened by those who thought I leaked the video. Today, truth has triumphed. For months, he’s been deceiving the public and lying in court, but now Justin has admitted his guilt. I pray for justice to be upheld.’
