I’m A Celeb’s Danny Jones’ wife Georgia Horsley and son Cooper arrive in Australia while the McFly star leaves fans in tears as he reveals how Barry McGuigan is providing him with a father figure
As a compassionate observer, it is truly heart-wrenching to delve into Danny’s deeply personal journey. His life experiences, marked by loss and longing, have undeniably shaped him into the strong, resilient individual he is today. The void left by his estranged father has been filled with lessons learned and achievements unlocked.
Danny Jones, along with his wife Georgia Horsley and their son Cooper, have already landed in Australia prior to his departure from I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!
I, a devoted fan, eagerly awaited the arrival of the McFly star, now 38 years old. I was fortunate enough to be chosen among his closest family members to welcome him upon his arrival at Brisbane Airport. This honor came as my son and I joined forces to greet him off the iconic bridge. In anticipation, we had flown in earlier this week to meet Danny’s mother, who graciously made her journey ahead of us.
In a relaxed style, Georgia was dressed in an oversized white shirt and blue denim pants, flashing a smile as she cradled Cooper in her arms.
In the camp, Danny emotionally shared a secret after disclosing that he considered Barry McGuigan as a paternal figure for him.
During their journey in the jungle, they developed an extraordinary connection. As the musician reminisced about his experience overseas, he shared with the boxer: “Not only did I make incredible friendships, but I’ve even found another father figure among you all. I truly care for each of you.
For the past 18 years, the musician has been separated from his father Alan due to an incident where he left the family, and even after close to two decades, the singer has yet to pardon him or pay him a visit in Spain, where he currently resides.
Danny confessed that Barry has taken on a role similar to a parental guide in his life, as they had a heartfelt and emotional discussion.
Danny told Oti Mabuse: ‘My dad, he doesn’t speak to me.’
‘It’s just weird because I don’t feel I’ve really healed with it maybe’, he added.
thirty-four-year-old Oti inquired whether he had sought counseling, to which he responded, “Yes, I did, but I encourage you to consider it too. However, missing your father is something that remains challenging for me.
‘That’s why I get so much satisfaction out of Barry.’
In the Bush Telegraph, Oti said: ‘I know that Danny and Barry’s relationship is very special.
‘They’ve come to a point where they love each other and they need each other now.
You can look forward to more than just an exceptional memory; you’ll also be taking lasting friendships and familial bonds with you from here.
During his childhood, Danny adored his father Alan, a sentiment that shifted dramatically once he separated from his mother Kathy, coinciding with his band’s rise to fame.
At the age of 19, the star found himself alone when his father decided to depart unexpectedly. Later on, it was disclosed that Danny sought counseling as a result of feeling anxious due to this sudden turn of events.
He shared that at the age of 19, he experienced an extremely intense period of worry and distress when his father left him. It’s truly unfortunate for any child who finds themselves in a situation where their parents get separated.
It falls on them to maintain contact since they decided to have children. They should act responsibly and keep in touch as adults do.
For a child, giving up something desired can feel incredibly tough, as the longing remains and memories linger. However, I find that I have grown significantly more mature because of this experience. I’ve gained wisdom, accomplished much, and developed an increased hunger for success – not fearful of challenges ahead, but stronger instead.
The musician openly confessed that he continues to harbor feelings of resentment on Father’s Day, and he is no longer in contact with his father.
He shared: ‘Seeing my mom go through such intense pain was incredibly difficult. If I had known then what I know now, I would have talked to her about it. However, I was always striving for peace, truly a peacekeeper.’
Initially, I found emotions overwhelming and avoided genuine discussions as I desired everything to be flawless. If disagreements arose, I would often respond with a request for silence.
‘What I try and teach my son now is that emotions are ok, show me your emotions I want to feel it, because that is the best way of solving anything.’
In 2014, Danny’s father wasn’t included in the guest list for his and Georgia’s wedding, and up until now, he hasn’t had a chance to meet his grandson.
In a discussion at the White Wine Question Time podcast in 2022, he expressed his frustration by saying: “On Father’s Day, my anger is interfering with my enjoyment of spending quality time with my family and my son.
‘I idolised him, and my mum, they’re my first people I looked up to.’
