I'm A Celebrity's Reverend Richard Coles reveals heartbreaking dreams about late husband who lost his life after devastating battle with alcoholism

As I delve into the heartfelt story of Reverend Richard Coles, I am deeply moved by his resilience and courage in the face of profound loss. His journey from the pulpit to the dance floor, and back again, is a testament to the human spirit’s ability to adapt and thrive amidst adversity.

Reverend Coles has shared the painful dreams he’s experienced about his deceased spouse, who lost his life due to struggles with alcoholism.

On the latest installment of I’m A Celebrity, Richard shared insights about living without his late husband David Oldman (who passed away in 2019) with dancer Oti Mabuse.

Richard, aged 62, has now found his new companion, Dickie Cant. However, he acknowledged that David still leaves a significant void or gap in his life.

Richard expressed, “I’ve been longing for him, and I yearn to see him return. In my imagination, he walked through the door with a Co-op bag, as if he’d gone grocery shopping. When I saw him, I exclaimed, ‘I thought you were gone,’ to which he replied, ‘No, I was just out shopping.’

Richard remarked, “I greeted him with, ‘Great to have you back, thank you for returning,’ to which he responded, ‘I’m not planning to stay, I found someone else.'” This exchange caused both Richard and Oti to chuckle.

‘But he’s just a massive hole in my life and I’m living my life around that loss and I’ve met Dickie now, and that’s great.

‘So we’re in a relationship now together but I just miss David very much.’

During Monday evening, I found myself sharing my personal journey regarding my sexuality with a newly met companion named GK Barry – an experience that felt refreshingly open and honest.

In the conversation between GK and Richard, GK inquired, “Was it challenging for you, being gay and doing your job?” To which Richard replied, “Not at all. I’ve never been concerned about whether God approved or not. As for other people’s opinions, I’m open to discussing that matter…

He added: ‘Also, I was not the first. Sometimes I look at documents from the early church, or the church of the middle ages and I just think – so gay.’

The conversation inspired GK to speak about why she turned away from religion as a child.

As a lifestyle expert, I’d rephrase that as follows: “In my past, I, Grace Keeling – the TikTok sensation known by many – confess that I was deeply rooted in religious beliefs. Specifically, I recall my youth spent at a religious camp, where certain men advised me against pre-marital intimacy.

She said that even at 13, she thought: ‘Well, that’s not gonna happen. I see my future and it involves scissoring now.’

As a newcomer to this dense forest, I didn’t know whom I’d connect with or grow particularly close to, truth be told. If someone had predicted that I’d find the closest bond with a reverend, I wouldn’t have believed it in a thousand years.

‘But, he is honestly… I think he might be my favourite person in here.’

In their conversation, GK queried Richard about the most intriguing individual he had ever encountered. To this, Richard responded cryptically, saying, “I believe she is right here.

In my personal account, I’m currently in a relationship with the esteemed actor Dickie, aged 60, who happens to be the son of the legendary Brian Cant, renowned for hosting children’s TV shows like Playschool and Dappledown Farm in the ’60s and ’70s.

On the online dating platform Elite Singles, I found a match who instantly resonated with me. Coles hinted at the possibility of us taking our relationship to the next level, mentioning to The Times that he could envision our future together, perhaps even leading towards marriage.

The actor, from Kent, has starred in Mary Queen of Scots, Stan & Ollie and Doctor Who.

After David passed away, deciding to start dating once more was an extremely challenging choice for him, and it wasn’t until three long years had passed that he even began contemplating the idea.

Dickie and Coles also shared mutual acquaintances, expressing to the Telegraph that resuming dating was similar to a polar bear emerging from its winter slumber.

A clergyman previously serving in the Church of England, occasionally referred to as the “rockstar vicar,” made an appearance on Strictly Come Dancing back in 2017.
