Iain Lee, known for appearing on ‘I’m A Celebrity,’ announced that he’s engaged to Katherine Boyle, who used to work with him at talkRADIO.
The 52-year-old comedian and TV host announced on Instagram over the weekend that he proposed to his partner during a romantic trip to Lake Como.
Iain announced the happy news along with a photo of himself and Katherine. She started as his producer and later became his co-host on his talkRADIO show, where he lost his job in 2020.
He shared a photo and explained that he proposed to Katherine Boyle on August 12th while they were on Lake Como, and she happily accepted!
This happened just moments ago. We only got a weak response – a quiet clap – from the person you can barely make out in the back.
Katherine also posted a photo of her engagement ring online, casually writing, ‘Just so you know, this happened!’

Iain commented on the post: ‘I love you and can’t wait to be your husband.’
This follows Iain’s recent admission that he was very unpleasant when struggling with drug addiction. He openly discussed his difficult past and emotional collapse in a new interview.
Let me tell you, navigating life and staying on track can be tough. I’ve worked with so many people who’ve faced setbacks, and it’s incredibly common. I’m thinking of Iain, who actually did amazingly well staying sober for thirteen years. He had a slip-up in 2017 after being on a reality show, but I’m happy to share he’s now been back on track for almost five years – a testament to his strength and resilience. It just goes to show, even when things get difficult, getting back to a healthy lifestyle is always possible.
He’s been candid about his struggles with depression and, in May 2018, shared that he was a victim of childhood sexual abuse.
Even though he found success on television with *The 11 O’Clock Show*, he recently told The Guardian he wasn’t satisfied with his work and believes his addiction negatively impacted his career.
He explained that he’s come to terms with his history, admitting he’d never been satisfied with his time on television, describing it as awful.
I was the one sabotaging my own career. I was using a lot of drugs, which made me unreliable and difficult to work with – frankly, I was being awful.
He admitted feeling lost and unprepared throughout much of his time in television. To cope with this, he turned to cocaine, which he said created a misleading sense of confidence that appeared as arrogance but was actually rooted in deep fear.

He explained that he continues to struggle with receiving compliments about his work, because he’s deeply used to believing he’s not good enough and even a flawed person.
In 2020, Iain celebrated 30 days of sobriety after a difficult relapse the previous month. He had been sober for over two years before experiencing the setback.
The TV personality announced on Twitter that he was again avoiding drugs, following a recent admission on his show, The Late Night Alternative, that he had been using them.
Iain described the experience, saying it wasn’t something he would normally choose to do. It initially gave him a slight, energetic feeling, but quickly led to a headache and made him sick.
He wrote on Twitter (now X): ’30 days clean and sober.’
Last month on his radio show, Iain revealed he’d recently relapsed after being sober for over two and a half years, and he discussed his ongoing struggle with drug addiction.
He admitted to a relapse, telling the audience that after being drug-free for two and a half years, he had used drugs again. He acknowledged it wasn’t necessarily a terrible situation, but he personally felt terrible about it.
Last weekend, I tried some drugs. It wasn’t what I usually take, and it didn’t have much of an effect. I ended up with a bad headache, felt slightly stimulated, and ultimately threw up.
Iain had been sober for thirteen years, but he started drinking again in 2017 after being on the TV show, I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here.
He said he didn’t contact his NA sponsor because he thought he could handle things on his own at the time.
