I’m a Celebrity: Dave Hughes’ Jungle Disaster – Viewers Call Him ‘Annoying Incarnate’
David Hughes traveled to the South African wilderness to shoot the 2025 edition of “I’m a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here!” in Australia.
On Sunday evening, the comedian appeared for the first time on the reality show, but viewers showed little amusement.
Multiple individuals posted on X platform to express their opinions, with a significant number of them stating that they find the 54-year-old individual somewhat bothersome.
In the spirit of exploration, I can’t help but picture myself in the heart of a dense jungle, side by side with Dave Hughes. Yet, as another follower, it seems someone else feels differently, expressing their dislike towards him, saying, ‘Yuck. I just don’t take to him.’
‘Dave Hughes in the jungle is my worst nightmare. He is an absolute d****head’ said another.
One person wondered aloud, “Why have we been given Hughsey?” Another chimed in, “Dave Hughes, the most irritating person on Earth.
It was mused that Dave’s authentic character will shine in the jungle, making for quite an intriguing spectacle.
‘It’s going to be a tough watch with Hughesy in there’ yet another viewer watching at home said.
Dave arrived during Sunday’s episode and quickly indicated he was surprised he signed up.
He expressed disbelief, on the verge of tears, admitting that he was certain his abilities were not suited for the task at hand; he claimed to possess no skills whatsoever in a jungle environment.
Later on, Dave boasted about himself, saying, “If you reside in Australia but haven’t heard of me, I strongly doubt it. You must be familiar with me. I am like a deity there.
He mentioned that he performs stand-up comedy at least four times a week, and the reason for this is because, as he put it, “I crave the spotlight.
I need to arrange some performances deep in the jungle. I have an audience that’s already there, and they’ll get to experience my brand of humor, whether they’re ready for it or not.
This year, one of the initial famous participants announced for Channel 10’s I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! was previously a morning host on Sydney’s 2DayFM radio show.
He’s set for his debut adventure in the South African wilderness, having declined the chance multiple times before.
After Hughes finally shared his thoughts on his unexpected departure from radio for the first time, I can’t help but acknowledge that it seems like a much-needed transition in his career, given his status as a renowned comedian.
In August 2024, the popular Hughesy, Ed, and Erin morning show experienced a surprising conclusion due to declining viewership figures and apparent dedication concerns.
Hughsey shared with the Herald Sun that he is exceptionally pleased to be absent from commercial radio this year, marking his first remarks following his dismissal.
frankly speaking, I’ve had enough of these tunes, and it feels tiresome to listen to the same seven songs each day as if I were destined to do so forever.
In its latest viewership assessment, the show led by Dave Hughes, Ed Kavalee, and Erin Molan garnered only a 3.6 percentage of the market.
However, it’s clear that Dave doesn’t hold radio work in high regard, viewing it as something he’s been engaged with for an extended period and which has been financially rewarding for many years. Furthermore, he appears to have made prudent financial decisions along the way.
I’m more than thrilled to take a prolonged vacation this time around. For the past two decades, I’ve been repeating the same annual routine, but not anymore due to a lack of necessity.
I’m choosing to follow my desires, which is one reason I’m venturing into the wilderness. I’m excited about the adventure and the novelty of it all.
The Melbourne radio host expressed feeling torn, having to travel to Sydney every week for his hosting duties, as he found himself divided between the two cities.
Initially, my heart was set on relocating to the vibrant city of Sydney, but that plan never materialized. To begin with, the global pandemic, Covid-19, threw a wrench in our plans. As time passed, I found myself deeply rooted in Melbourne alongside my contented family. My wife thrived in her job, and our children were flourishing at their school. Eventually, it became clear that moving away from this established life was not on the cards for me.
Dave mentioned that he had been, in essence, making it appear as if he resided in Sydney for approximately three and a half years. He also expressed that the experience was rather taxing.
