I’m A Celeb star Danny Jones reveals the insecurities he had ahead of his jungle appearance as he admits he’s never been in the public eye on his own in ‘such a vulnerable state’

Danny Jones from McFly has revealed that his feelings of self-doubt are causing him apprehension about his participation in I’m A Celebrity and the potential tattoo he might acquire if he emerges victorious.

The thirty-eight-year-old musician expressed: “It’s hard for me to imagine how it would feel to win the jungle. I believe the reason it would be such a significant achievement is because, despite appearing very self-assured, we all harbor doubts.

“I can’t hide from my past actions, but when I have my guitar or sing, it gives me a sense of protection.

I’ve usually had a means to shield myself, not exactly concealment, but a way that makes me feel secure. I find more ease in singing rather than speaking.

He mentioned that despite being recognized for his work with a band, he had never exposed himself in such a raw, vulnerable manner solely as an individual before.

Additionally, it feels quite rewarding to receive the acceptance of the British people, as if they approve of me. It’s a pleasant feeling to know this, and having their approval would make everything even sweeter, like adding a cherry to the top.

After winning, I vowed unequivocally that I would undoubtedly get a fresh tattoo of the crown and scepter inscribed somewhere on my body as a symbol of victory. Without a doubt.

Talking about taking his guitar into the jungle, he expressed: “I can’t wait to have it in our camp. It’s been the sole source of peace for me. Every morning, I find solace by looking out of the window and strumming my guitar, which has helped keep me mentally stable.

Danny’s spouse Georgia and their six-year-old son Cooper are set to travel to Australia with him. Meanwhile, Danny’s bandmate Dougie Poynter, who had won the show in 2011, offered encouragement and humorously suggested: “Avoid acting like a jerk.

Danny joins a series of individuals connected to McBusted who are making their way into the jungle, each having previously emerged victorious. Notable examples include Matt Willis from Busted who won in 2006, Dougie in 2011, and Giovanna, Tom Fletcher’s wife, who triumphed in 2020.

“Dougie’s place is more like a wild jungle than an apartment. It seems that Dougie is quite content in this environment, while Matt Willis appears to be incredibly tough.

‘Whereas me, you know, I’m just here for a laugh, and I don’t know what’s going to happen. 

However, I’m absolutely present to encourage exploration and challenge. I simply believe that the present moment offers an exceptional opportunity, as I’ve noticed that as we grow older, we tend to become more cautious and less likely to step outside our comfort zones.
