I’m A Celeb bosses left ‘angry’ and ‘confused’ by Christine McGuiness for suggesting she’d landed a spot on this year’s show despite not being in the lineup

Okay, so here’s the scoop – apparently there was a bit of a mix-up with the ‘I’m A Celebrity‘ lineup! I’m hearing that Christine McGuinness seemed to let slip she was joining the show before it was officially announced, which left the producers a little frustrated and puzzled. It sounds like things weren’t quite finalized, and she jumped the gun a bit! It’s a common thing in TV, honestly – sometimes details leak before everyone’s ready.

The 37-year-old, who previously appeared on Celebs Go Dating, hinted she’d be joining the show at the Pride of Britain Awards in October when asked about the possibility.

Christine revealed she gets asked to be on the show annually, but she’s always felt it would be too difficult to leave her three children and travel to Australia.

This year, she admitted to a ‘why not’ attitude, leading many to believe she’d be appearing on the reality show.

This week’s announcement of the show’s contestants included well-known faces like Kelly Brook, Jack Osbourne, and Martin Kemp, but Christine was surprisingly not among them.

According to a source at ITV, executives were puzzled by her statements. They believe she should have denied the rumors about appearing on the show instead of suggesting she might be going.

According to a source speaking with the Daily Mail, ITV executives were surprised to see reports claiming Christine was joining “I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!”

Typically, celebrities dismiss rumors, so when Christine seemed to confirm she’d be appearing, it really upset the people working on the project.

Someone familiar with the situation shared that many celebrities are considered for ‘I’m A Celebrity…’ each year, and Christine is frequently mentioned as a possible contestant.

She’d really struggle being separated from her kids for so long.

‘That said, never say never, maybe one day she’ll be up for the challenge.’

In an interview with the Daily Mail, Christine explained that she’s frequently asked if she’d ever consider appearing on a particular show, and it comes up every year.

I always say I couldn’t bear to be separated from my kids, and I’m really afraid of bugs. I have sensory sensitivities, and since I’ve never left Europe, even the flight itself would be difficult for me.

Okay, so getting to the jungle is going to be a huge effort, I know that, but honestly? I’m already planning it. This year, I’m just thinking, ‘what the heck, let’s just go!’ I’m so ready to finally make it happen, I’ve been wanting to for ages!

Christine and Paddy McGuinness, though no longer together, continue to raise their three children – twins Penelope and Leo, and daughter Felicity – together at their home in Cheshire.

Both former partners have created documentaries focusing on their children’s autism. Christine has also been public about her own diagnoses of autism and ADHD, helping to increase understanding of these conditions.

Following her divorce from Paddy after a decade of marriage in 2022, Christine described herself as someone who values freedom and independence – a ‘free spirit’.

While appearing on the show Celebs Go Dating earlier this year, she explored relationships with women and shared that she had previously dated people of all genders.

The Daily Mail has approached an ITV representative and Christine’s spokesperson for comment.
