iiTzTimmy and Genburten set to team up for ALGS Champs
As a seasoned Apex Legends fan who’s been following the ALGS scene since its inception, I must say this roster shuffle has me both intrigued and nostalgic. The Genburten-iiTzTimmy-Dezignful trio is undoubtedly a dream team on paper, but only time will tell if they can live up to the hype.
Several roster changes are afoot ahead of the ALGS Championship.
It seems like roster changes are being finalized in anticipation of the Roster Lock for the ALGS Championship, coming up later this week. Although the tournament itself won’t begin until next year, teams have a tight window to tweak their lineups for this specific event. There’s been lots of chatter, but it appears that Genburten and iiTzTimmy are joining forces with Dezignful, marking a quick dissolution of the super-team formed following the Split 1 Playoffs.
These actions apparently include both of iiTzTimmy’s existing team members, as well as Gild and Wxltzy who seem to be leaving their current team. If this is true, it may disband the Moist Esports Champions roster, making these moves particularly important.
Here’s what we know at the moment about who is going where.
iiTzTimmy and Genburten look set to team for ALGS Champs
As a gamer, I’ve got to say, the most striking move in this recent roster swap is the trade between Team Falcons, Moist Esports, and the ex-Disguised roster. It looks like Genburten is bidding farewell to Team Falcons and linking up with iiTzTimmy and Dezignful. Seems like Wxltzy, currently playing with Timmy on Moist Esports, is set to join Team Falcons in his place. Timmy himself has already announced his departure on social media.
It’s not surprising that the collaboration between Genburten and Zer0 has ended, as it seemed likely following the previous ALGS Championship. Genburten had already tried out with Sweetdreams and Nafen, and ultimately chose to stay with DarkZero instead. This change is bound to make waves in the Apex Legends community and catch many fans off guard.
This revelation suggests that the bond between these two might not be as strong as some people thought. Previously, Zer0 had openly shown interest in working with Wxltzy, so this collaboration seems logical. The dynamics within this team are bound to be intriguing. All three members of Team Falcons have served as team leaders in the past.
Was the ‘super team’ a failure?
Nevertheless, the creation of Zer0, Hal, and Genburten’s team represents a significant milestone in ALGS history, as their roster boasts an impressive record. Regrettably, many may only recall their 20th place at the ALGS Split 2 Playoffs, some might even label them as unsuccessful. Yet, considering their own exceptional standards, this assessment could be seen as fair. However, it’s important to note that Team Falcons excelled in the North American Split 2 Pro League and delivered some truly remarkable performances.
Currently, the alliance between Dezignful, Genburten, and iiTzTimmy stands out as quite formidable in their own sphere. Although they may not have garnered LAN victories thus far, this trio is composed of some of the gaming world’s most recognized and skillful competitors. As a result, they are considered strong dark horse candidates for the ALGS Championship in Japan.
Other roster moves in the offing
Without a doubt, such significant steps often lead to other pieces of the picture becoming clearer. As we’ve mentioned before, Xpsp Lou is teaming up with E8, while Enemy is stepping into Complexity. YanYa, following a successful covert trial, is now part of BLEED Esports.
As iiTzTimmy and Wxltzy were on the go, there was speculation about what would become of Gild. At first, his future looked uncertain since he was practicing with Zachmazer and Lou, while whispers also spread about a potential reunion with ex-teammates Nocturnal and FunFPS at NRG.
It’s been disclosed that Gild will now be part of NRG instead of Reptar, a change that happened last night. This development leaves E8 in search of a new teammate, as they had been considered by Gild but apparently decided against pursuing the opportunity further.
As a gamer following the scene closely, it seems like LAN champ Phony might be joining the ranks of Team Liquid soon, potentially taking over from YanYa. However, this is just speculation at the moment and how fluent Phony is in Spanish could be a deciding factor. Meanwhile, Kurev is also reportedly being considered by Team Liquid’s management, as per Xpsp sources.
