As a seasoned esports enthusiast with decades of gaming under my belt, I must say, the recent turn of events at BLAST Premier Fall Finals 2024 has left me quite intrigued and entertained, if not a tad bewildered. The saga of the absent IGLs is reminiscent of a classic soap opera, filled with twists and turns that keep you glued to your seat.
6/7 non-Astralis IGLs have skipped media day.
Several team leaders have chosen not to attend the Media Day at the BLAST Premier Fall Finals 2024. This bold move from the leaders is a response to their previous attempts to challenge BLAST’s decision regarding Astralis’ emergency substitution request, which they were unable to overturn. The decision was hinted at in tweets on September 23rd, where four leaders posted, “I might not be able to attend Blast Media tomorrow.
br0 “is fully healthy and ready to perform,” says agent Fabian Broich
As a passionate fan, I found it intriguing yet rational when Astralis revealed the addition of Casper “cadiaN” Møller to their roster. Despite his recent parting ways with Martin “stavn” Lund and Jakob “jabbi” Nygaard in an unexpected manner, cadiaN remained a top contender for a Danish team leader. What left me scratching my head was the timing of the announcement, setting cadiaN’s debut at the BLAST Premier Fall Finals, Copenhagen.

At Copenhagen, Astralis, the hometown champions, always make for a significant occasion. However, due to BLAST’s roster lock, they were obliged to play with br0 in the event. A report by Luis Mira of HLTV disclosed that BLAST had sent an email to participating teams explaining that Astralis was granted an emergency substitution “on account of a medical emergency”.
As for the recent rumors about my gaming health, my representative, Fabian Broich, has clarified that I am in top shape and raring to go. He made this announcement on Twitter.
“I might be unfit for Blast Media tomorrow.”
As I prepare for the BLAST Premier Fall Finals Media Day tomorrow, I find myself reflecting on a peculiar situation. Fellow gamers apEX, Twistzz, karrigan, and Snappi have all shared similar messages on Twitter, hinting at potential health concerns for our participation in the event. They each expressed that they might not be fit to attend Blast Media Day tomorrow, leaving us all in a bit of uncertainty about our readiness for this major tournament.
After organizations didn’t challenge BLAST’s decision, players felt compelled to take action themselves. Some viewed their online statements as mere bluffs, but the team leaders proved otherwise by skipping media responsibilities while their teammates were present. Not only were those specific players absent from media interviews, but other team leaders like Aleksi “Aleksib” Virolainen and Janusz “Snax” Pogorzelski also participated in the boycott.
Among all teams, Astralis was one of the few who had all five members available for interviews with media personnel. However, a prearranged roundtable discussion with cadiaN intended for external press outlets was called off. Although BLAST indicated they were “working on obtaining more information from Astralis”, no official statement has been released yet.
