Iggy Pop, 78, goes shirtless for London gig as The Passenger singer belts out hit tracks to a packed crowd in tribute of his long-lasting career

As a devoted admirer, I took to the stage in London sans shirt, echoing the iconic moves of the renowned American singer, Iggy Pop, while performing timeless classics to an exhilarated audience.

The singer, who’s 78 years old, isn’t new to removing his clothes on stage, and he followed suit at Alexandra Palace on Wednesday evening.

In a homage to his lengthy musical journey, the performer known as Iggy (James Osterberg Jr) took the stage at the renowned venue.

Throughout the performance, he chose to go shirtless, pairing only black trousers with a black belt.

On full display, the lean silhouette of the talented performer, who was the main act, energetically ruled the stage while his backing band stood in support.

His glance was sparse, complemented by a pair of black boots, while Iggy’s striking blond locks cascaded down to his shoulder length.

As a devoted fan, I was privy to some of his iconic tracks like “The Passenger” and “Lust for Life” during the performance, along with fresh tunes straight off his newest album, Every Loser.

Joe and his group, identified as ‘bisexual vegan’ themselves, backed Iggy and kicked off the performance, while punk duo Bob Vylan was another act on stage.

At this event, Iggy seemed quite cheerful, quite a change from his behavior during the last show where he expressed anger towards the crowd by cursing them.

The foul-mouthed exchange took place in Venoge Festival in Penthaz, Switzerland back in 2023.

Under the glare of the stage lights, it became apparent that Iggy was flipping the bird with both hands towards the crowd.

2020 saw Iggy being honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award by the Grammys, recognizing his illustrious career that has endured through the years.

Initially, he had reservations about accepting the honor and even expressed his dislike for the Recording Academy when they reached out to him.

He shared with Classic Rock that the Grammy organizers persistently wanted to discuss things over the phone.

I repeatedly conveyed to my supervisor, “I prefer not to engage with them. Their behavior towards me feels like they want to display me as an exhibit.

Later on, I had a conversation with the woman from the Grammys around two months past, and she told me, “We are presenting you with the Lifetime Achievement Award. Your work is instrumental in the rise of artists like Lil Nas X and Billie Eilish.

Based on her statement, “You represent the leading artists on this year’s award list directly.” Here’s an interpretation of her viewpoint, taking it at its face value.

Previously, Pop was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as part of the Stooges in 2010. However, he found that getting recognized by the Grammys was like trying to open a difficult can of tuna.

He mentioned, “I guess I can say I feel as if the Academy and I found some common ground, to put it another way. It’s more like an issue has been resolved, you could say that… These events have been part of my career for the past decade or so. At first, it was quite challenging.

At first, I didn’t think Raw Power was any more or less good because I had reached an understanding. However, over time I came to realize that everyone has their own perspective.

As an ardent enthusiast, it took me quite some time to grasp the vast array of perspectives that differed significantly from my own. However, I’ve come to realize the importance of respecting these divergent viewpoints. Back when I was 25, it felt more like, “If you don’t agree with me, well, let’s just say we had a disagreement.
