Idris Elba’s “intense and entertaining” binge-worthy thriller gets “intentional” change for season 2

Idris Elba has given fans a hint of what to expect in the second season of Hijack. He’ll be returning as Sam Nelson, and he says his character’s new appearance is a deliberate choice.

In an interview with Deadline, Idris Elba explained that he deliberately portrayed his character differently this season, both mentally and physically. He wanted to show a visibly changed man compared to Season 1, and this was done to reflect the character’s internal struggles and search for answers, revealing him as a deeply broken individual.

The show’s director and co-creator, Jim Field Smith, explained they wanted a dramatically changed Sam at the start of Season 2. He said the intention was for viewers to immediately notice a stark difference from the Sam Nelson they knew in Season 1, wondering what had happened to him.
