Iconic UK band announce shock SPLIT after 15 years as they release final tour dates in heartfelt update

A well-known British musical group declared their surprising separation on Wednesday, revealing their last concert schedules in an emotional statement.

After 15 years in the music industry, post-metal band Svalbard is planning to conclude their fruitful career next year. This decision follows a series of concerts and the release of a single new track.

The team consisting of Serena Cherry, Liam Phelan, Mark Lilley, Matt Francis, and Adam Parrish was established in the year 2011. They maintain a presence in both London and Bristol.

Starting this November, I’ll be embarking on my last UK tour, a bittersweet moment indeed. Accompanying me on stage will be the energetic Cage Fight and the enigmatic Knife Bride, promising an unforgettable experience for fans as we create lasting memories together.

However, the group are not stopping there and have also teased a series of shows across Europe

The Instagram post further disclosed that the band plans to travel through Japan, going on a concert tour there.

They penned: ‘After much reflection, we have decided that 2026 will be the final year of Svalbard.

‘In November 2025, our last UK concert tour will take place. After that, we have planned a series of final concerts across Europe, Japan, and some exclusive farewell shows in 2026.’

We’d like to express our heartfelt gratitude to all of you who have stood by us throughout our 15-year journey as a band. Your unwavering support has touched us deeply and truly made a difference in our musical journey.

Over the years, we’ve created countless memorable experiences together. We’re eagerly anticipating celebrating our final year as a band with you in 2026.

Musical duo Serena, known for their vocals and guitar skills, shared their thoughts with Metal Hammer regarding their choice to conclude their journey at its peak.

She stated: ‘For us, it’s been about going big or going home – always. Though it brings immense sadness, we acknowledge that our shared musical path is nearing its conclusion.

As our band, we only have one more song left to share. Our aim is to conclude our journey with a powerful peak, having produced four albums that we stand behind without any reservation.

Serena started the band with guitarist and vocalist Liam Phelan in 2011.

In their 2015 first release titled “One Day All This Will End,” they established a name for themselves by blending post-hardcore, post-metal, and black metal genres with intensely emotional and socially relevant lyrics.

Svalbard has a history of hosting prominent bands such as Enslaved, Alcest, and Cult of Luna, and they have also graced the stages of events like Hellfest, Summer Breeze, ArcTanGent, and 2000 Trees festivals.

This summer, they will be appearing for the first time at Download Festival, with a performance scheduled for Friday, the 13th of June.
