Legendary singer Jock McDonald has died in a tragic swimming accident at the age of 69.

On July 26, 2025, the lead singer of The Bk Brothers tragically drowned in Bundoran, Ireland. This sad news was shared by the band’s drummer, Pat Pattyn, via social media.

With deep sorrow in my soul, I must share some devastating news… tragically, our beloved singer Jock Mcdonald passed away last night in Ireland, seemingly due to an unfortunate swimming mishap.

The kids have requested me to convey this message to you through this channel. Unfortunately, their father, along with his family members and fellow Bk Brothers, are all in a state of disbelief and shock. We will make an effort to deal with this difficult situation, but it won’t be an easy task.

On the unfortunate occasion of yesterday, Jock McDonald, the soulful voice and emotional core of the Bollock Brothers, met an untimely end in a heartbreaking swimming accident. I find it hard to accept – just last year I witnessed him perform live in Meschede. That night was extraordinary, genuine, boisterous – much like his music. This photograph brings me back to that unforgettable moment we shared.

Jock wasn’t just a remarkable artist; he was uniquely his own. His distinctive sound, spirited presence, and ability to transport audiences – these are the lasting impressions he left behind.

My thoughts are with his family, friends and all the fans who, like me, will not be forgotten.’
