Iconic Grey’s Anatomy star’s devastating admission about return will upset fans
Supporters of the popular medical drama “Grey’s Anatomy” may be disheartened to learn that one of its original cast members currently has no plans to rejoin the series.
It appears that long-term “Grey’s Anatomy” fans won’t find this surprising: Actress Sandra Oh has recently confirmed that she considers the medical drama as a completed part of her acting journey.
Was the actress who portrayed the exceptional cardiothoracic surgeon and close friend of Meredith Grey, Cristina Yang, for a decade on the long-running show, asked if she might reappear in the series that has now entered its 21st season.

Although she showed respect and appreciation towards devoted followers of the show, she also mentioned that she aimed to stay authentic to her personal identity.
In an interview with Deadline, she mentioned that after a decade since leaving the show, she’s come to deeply value those who admire Cristina.
When I realized how passionate the fans were about it, I couldn’t help but say, ‘Wow, they truly, deeply, deeply desire this.’ That was the moment I began to consider the possibility more seriously.
Prior to overly enthusiastic Grey’s Anatomy followers jumping to conclusions, she clarified: “I believe that being genuine to those who appreciate your work requires being true to oneself. As of now, I don’t foresee it happening.
Last year, Oh made similar comments about a potential return as Cristina.
She shared with Entertainment Tonight, “I’m really glad you asked me that question, as Cristina Yang holds a special place in my heart. However, let me clarify, not in the immediate future, my dear fans. I just want everyone to believe that I did justice to the character, bringing her to life over 10 seasons and showing her growth, which was genuine. She’s moved on, and so have I.
Fans can look forward to seeing her in the upcoming directorial debut of Aziz Ansari titled “Good Fortune”. This movie will feature Ansari himself along with Keanu Reeves, Keke Palmer, and Seth Rogen as well.
In the United States, the latest season of Grey’s Anatomy, which is its 21st, airs every Thursday at 10 PM Eastern Time on ABC. For those in the UK who wish to catch up on previous seasons, they are available for streaming on Disney+.
